We have silicone wine corks that can be used with a Vacmaster sealer to remove air from bottles and keep them airtight. Never felt the need to use with whiskey bottles as oxidation is usually not a problem if the proof is pretty high

Sure, that works. I use Vac-u-Vin stoppers and pump, but I only have about 6 of the stoppers. I find T corks easier to use, too.
Had to look them up. The tapered design looks like an excellent solution for easy fits
