Who knows… ribeye may become a new family tradition😀

I like that idea. It’s more expensive but easier to cook!

I hope you, and all the others in the storm’s path, stay safe and have power for the rest of your cooking too!

I’ve been doing on-and-off prep work since picking up the turkey on Monday. Bird is spatchcocked and brined. Yesterday, I did a bit more shopping for a few last minute items (plus it was gorgeous and spring-like here yesterday so I couldn’t resist being outside), but today is back to cooking/prep.

Just finished the cornbread, and my turkey stock with the turkey bits is simmering on my stovetop. Will try to make my green bean salad tonight (not a fan of the casserole version). All that’s left for tomorrow will be mashed potatoes, buttery corn, stuffing, roasting the turkey, and then finishing the gravy. If I feel up for it, I might make some brussels sprouts or sweet potatoes too. Can’t wait! Already loving the Thanksgiving cooking smells in the kitchen.

I wonder how much more expensive it actually is if you consider all the the turkey parts thrown away (a lot in our house). I will have to do the math one day

Wait! What? Did you say you cooked those ribs in an Insta Pot? Good Lawd. What doesn’t that thing do?!

I know! …And it’s wifi, so I can sit at work and make ribs while I’m working and have them warm when I get home!

I heard apple slices too.

You usually don’t have bread in the house? Is that how you keep your girlish figure?

I put it in the MW for a few seconds - works fast!

All these great ideas, and I went and bought a new bag. Serves me right. Next time, I will ask the hungry onions BEFORE I waste my money

What on earth? I’m resistant to new appliances and I hate clutter. But I see my Christmas wish list changing! You will “turn into a better cook” and I might become a more frequent cook!

P.S. I live in one of the most heavily condensed traffic areas in the state of California. I  grocery delivery services! And I don’t mean my husband.

Thanks for the play-by-play @kobuta! :yum:

Thanks @kobuta - guess we aren’t directly in the storm’s path, and it’s beautifully sunny here, but a little chilly for us - 39 brrrr. Your thanksgiving prep sounds wonderful & you are ahead of the game. I’m getting ready to make cranberry sauce, jerk mashed sweet potatoes and cornbread. Pies & other stuff a bit later. Hope to do as much as possible, so tomorrow is more relaxing. Hope you have a great t-day - I know your food will be delicious! :turkey:

:joy::joy::joy: My husband is grateful for grocery delivery services, not only because of traffic and parking, but snow and blizzards. In fact, I was on the phone to have him get me the brown sugar when he asked “what, No Amazon Fresh today?” And they came to his rescue.

It makes a dandy door stop.

Funny!!!

Put a piece of bread in the bag and seal it shut (I use a rubber band around the brown sugar bag), then seal it in a ziploc bag, and your brown sugar will remain soft for its next use.

That is how I keep my girlish limbs!

So far I’ve made my “rich brown turkey stock”, my “zeytinagli/lathera /fousalia” green beans, baked my cornbread and it’s cut up and drying for stuffing, soon to be assembled with custard poured over. Hopefully. I COULD do that tommorow. Later I’ll unbag my “Judy bird” turkey breast, and cook my brined pigeon peas for the peas and rice.

I also boned some turkey thighs and julliened some collards but I know it’ll be too much, and I won’t eat it. :unamused:

I’m watching that British baking show, which is just the right amount of inspiration.
