One year I bought the lovely wife a toolkit for Christmas. At first she was surprised. Then I reminded her of all the times she was looking for some tool because she needed to nail something or pry another thing. She has said to this day it turned out to be one of the most useful things she has ever gotten. Doesn’t hurt that I also gets her a lot of things that come in those powder blue boxes with the white ribbons.
I generally carry a small picket knife. I think I get my girlfriend one to drop into her purse.
A lovely white picket fence around a craftsman cottage would be a nice gift.
Had to do that with that typo.
Getting back to the real intent - How about this?
In one of the few other way gifts exchange of the little blue boxes, my wife gave me one of these years ago. Its very convenient whenever I’ve needed a small knife. Also very practical and used everyday.
That is quite nifty. I am guessing she is more of a Case type (she drinks bourbon and loves football). Picket was a fun typo.
Another year I bought Mrs. ricepad a tool box and filled it with common household tools (small hammer, screwdrivers, pliers set, etc). It lives in the laundry room and is intended for indoor use. I did have ulterior motives, though: while I tend to be fairly slovenly in most parts of my life, my tool chest in the garage is obsessively organized, and I hated opening it up and finding tools missing, only to learn Mrs. ricepad had used them somewhere in the house, and left them in some random place. Yet another gift Mrs. ricepad loved, with the bonus of less aggravation for me.
I’m still pretending not to know about. Let you know on the 6th
I’d be like a kid knowing where the presents were hidden before Christmas.
Using Sugru as a repair for a tear in the front gasket on the drum of a front loading washing machine My fix didn’t look as good as the one on YT, but it lasted for 4+ years. I just re-did it. Works fine; certainly cheaper than replacing the whole gasket/collar/whatever.
I also have checked out Terry Love for info in the past.
Hmmm… well?
I love it so far! Made making pumpkin bread so easy. Haven’t put it through the ringer yet though. It’s hefty AF.
Happy to hear you’re happy. Do you keep it out? What color is it? Photo? (c;
Oooooohhhh! Have fun!!
Totally not food-related, but our dog - who we rescued last year - was advertised as a Carolina Dog mix. We’d never heard of the breed, but he did sort of look like the pictures we saw from AKC. However, we did a doggy DNA test and he is not at all Carolina Dog - he’s a Chow/German shepherd mix with Chow coloring but GS levels of floof!
I joined a Facebook group for Carolina Dog enthusiasts.
The members say repeatedly that the majority of dog DNA tests don’t detect Carolina Dog DNA. A Google search confirms this information.
The results are usually what you got for your dog.

I’m enjoying it a lot! I put it through its paces with Parker house roll and cinnamon roll dough today.
