Spelling Bee Thread — that is totally a (food) word!

I was, too.

And it’s mostly used in the plural form, too.

Exactly. Of course, when I see haricots vert on a menu I want to scream, or attack with a sharpie.

I’m always bummed that they don’t accept aril.

They absolutely do. It’s come up twice recently.

Apparently you’re playing a different Bee than I am, if they’ve ever accepted it for you. It wasn’t accepted in the 3/15 game when I tried it (which I just reconfirmed), or in past games.

The Mar 15 NYT SB has aril in my list of words right between ally & call :woman_shrugging:t2:

I was able to use aril too. Hmmm…

Weird, I’ll have to reload…

It’s on my list as will.

What? No mache ?

RIGHT??? And I try it. Every. Single. Time.

They did have a bunch of food words today, tho, and I promptly missed edamame.

What, domino is ok, domina is not? I guess it needs the suffix “trix” to be considered.

PS: I can’t believe how long it took me to get the pangram today! WTF!

Anywho, a food word, fer shore: mandolin. Other food words today: aioli, onion. Still no idli. Weird.

Actually, not quite. Mandolin is the instrument; mandoline is the slicer

Ah. I always confus them
