I haven’t tried Shuffalo, but I do have a New Yorker subscription.
Check it out! It’s fun ![]()
How very NYT to include nori and nigiri, but not onigiri.
Also, no gringo? C’mon!
#SMDH
Today: intoxicant/intoxication as well as onion, tannin, tannic, tonic. I’ll also count niacin as a food word!
I’m also annoyed that ionic and anion count as words, but cation does not. (Negative charge is okay, but positive is not?)
They did accept cation, though. Why cacti and radii (not today, just generally), but no coiti
?
Argh, you’re right. I was also frustrated about not getting anionic/cationic.
Bialy today. Still kinda weirded out how few Latin words are acceptable, like ibid.
Maybe because ibid is a contraction of ibidem? I’ll have to try ibidem if the letters show up.
I think I may have tried it before to no avail.
Huh. So, “proper” names aren’t allowed, but today we get Macron.
Mormon and Roman? Naaaaaaaaah ![]()
Oooh! I did not know that! Thanks for enlightening me ![]()
Non-English words, like Odeon are ok, but loden is not ….
Food - cèpe too furrin?
Also picniced well, it’s sorta about food.
But spelled picnicked.
Finally, first word of the day, haricot and it’s a pangram. I’m shocked.
Got both first ![]()
Weird they include chica, but not chico.
No chitarra. But always those damn, boring, useless penne.
Tough one today (although I got the pangram first
)!
A food word I don’t believe I’ve seen in the SB before was bulgur. Also grub, grog, and flour.
And a food word I’ve never heard of before (or forgot since, bc I am old): burgoo. Actually had to cheat and look that one up.
Very surprised that word is allowed.
