I need to have turkey arrive in Atlanta around November 18th.
Last year I used Costco, and got a 16-18 pound raw “Mary’s” , delivered on the day of my choice. Costco doesn’t have Mary’s this year, but has a Halal one, which is nice because I don’t want injected, but it seems expensive compared to others I’ve seen (I heard turkeys were cheaper this year).
I’m also looking at Heritage Foods, but there smaller turkeys are sold out, and the big ones are expensive.
I’ve been shipping ever since my go to local shop stopped direct retail sales.
I have a meat share that focuses on New England and NY, and ordered a turkey from them this year. They focus on pasture raised meats.
I’ve tried Crowd Cow the past, and they are a good option, but not cheap. They try to offer heritage or pasture raised birds as well, and they usually have a preorder discount on turkeys. They would have likely been my option, if I weren’t going to try the meat share this year. With inflation, I think no turkeys are a real bargain this year unless you stake out your grocery store. I have terrible luck with finding the under 15lb birds when I shop at my local store.
I didn’t. We don’t have a Whole Foods in my town, although there is one in the next town. I enjoy “window shopping” at it, but have never thought of going there to buy something! Is there something I should know?
I just got my turkey delivered today from Walden Local meats too! Excited to do some prep. Have to go shopping to pick up the rest of my herbs and ingredients.
