Dave’s Genuine Deli. Jan 4, 2026

Corned beef on rye (without caraway) with fries and a pickle ($29). Pictured is half the meal. I split it with a friend. Very good. Maybe a bit pricey, but this is a high rent neighbourhood. A sandwich with a pickle, without fries costs $22.

Avenue Road North of Lawrence.

$10 proscuitto, olive tapenade and spinach sandwich at Café Bélem. This one was made with a crusty whole-wheat crusty Portuguese bread. Sometimes it’s topped with arugula, sometimes it’s offered on different breads. This one, the bread was a little drier than usual, but I also ordered it at 2 pm, and I probably usually order my prosciutto sandwiches at this café by 11 am.

Caprese ($15 )

Classic Combo ($17)

from Lambo’s Bellwoods location tonight.

Substantial sandwiches. I like the Classic Combo more than the Italian Trio.

We liked both.

I have now tried 5 of their 9 Sandwiches. I haven’t tried the Roast Beef, Mortadella, Smoked Turkey Pesto, or Smoked Turkey and Swiss yet.

I like Roast Turkey a lot more than Smoked Turkey. That’s why I haven’t tried those 2 Smoked Turkey Sandwiches.

Sadelle’s The Leo, $26

smoked salmon, egg, onion, cream cheese bagelwich

I was feeling baconed out, so I went for smoked salmon today.

I might go back to try the turkey sando, tuna melt, and the bacon coleslaw tomato some day.

Our server said his favourite sandwich is the classic egg sandwich (with fried eggs, bacon, havarti and mayo, $20) on an everything bagel.

I was in the area and decided to stop in at Makann on Bathurst north of bloor.

Palestinian breakfast sammies and small selection of drinks. (The specialty latte is halvah). I had the za’atar one without labneh. It was delicious. Will definitely have again next time i’m in the city.

Grabbed a quick lunch at the Greenwood and Queen location of Lambo’s. This time we tried the Italian trio: soppressata, mortadella, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, pickled red onion, arugula, pesto, Calabrian chili spread. Nice blend of meats. Loved the creaminess of the mozzarella, which also offset the saltiness of the meats. Good kick from the chilis.
