Saaaaaaaaaame. I did eat out for the first time since March this past weekend–had breakfast at Buttered Biscuit in Bradley, and while it was definitely strange, I felt like they were doing everything right. Still…weird.
Am I the only member of the “have not dined out since pandemic” club?
I am a member of the “have not dined out since pandemic club.” and I don’t know when I will. Maybe when the new restaurant in my neighborhood opens…just because I’m really curious about it. The Deal Lake Dock Company.
I’m a member (assuming you don’t count take-out brought home). Mark and I are “elderly” and Mark has asthma , so we’re not going to be early adopters of dining out.
Do you mean Deal Lake Bar + Co? I’m so anxious for them to open as well! That said, no idea how quickly I’ll go. SIGH…
We went out on a Wednesday and a Sunday just to avoid crowds, and we went to out of the way places. I’m not ready to sit in the middle of Cookman Ave just yet.
You’re right…The Dock Company is the kayak rental place across the lake. The Deal Lake Bar & Co. is advertising for staff and say they are going to open this month.
Add “in New Jersey”, and yes, I’m a member of the club.
A couple meals out in PA last month, where both businesses and customers appeared to actually be following the rules.
I had really tagged Seafarer as the place that would be my first in NJ, but after this weekend’s debacle, I’ll pass.
My in-laws are definitely in the club and we have only gone once.
Do tell! What did I miss?
Apparently there was a massive crowd with zero social distancing, etc. A fight broke out, the cops were called, and they shut it down. Fines handed out. Not sure if the closure was for a single night or longer, though.
I’m also carrying the “I Haven’t Dined Out” card. Kind of driving me nuts, but the wife isn’t comfortable with it and I don’t see dining out in my future any time soon.
Exactly…
" I don’t see dining out in my future any time soon."
{{deep sigh}} nor do I…
I had the opposite experience. My family, especially the elderly ones, wanted to eat outside. As much as I wanted to get out of it, family peer pressure is the worst!
Be a leader not a follower @seal! I sure hope all these outdoor dining places have their tents secured or we are going to be adding a few more restaurants as “lost.”
This is video from Cookman in Asbury last night.
add me to the no dining out yet- takeout only and keeping a mental note of the places doing it right…and axing off the ones doing it wrong- like the deli I went to pick up my takeout order and walked in to find 4 people with no masks on…done.
A friend had that happen at Joseph’s Deli in Spring Lake. She said there were 14 people inside, a couple not wearing masks. NO. THANK. YOU.
this particular place was me and 4 workers- NONE wearing masks when I walked in. I know maybe they were taking a break- but I doubt all at same time and when they had multiple to go orders sitting waiting to be picked up. IF you need break that bad step out the back like all of us who worked food service have done since the dawn of time.
I’ve got a few of these places myself. Awkwardly enough one I was a partner in several years ago, but watching them operate during this turned me off for good.
