Thank you!
Bills had workers there on Sunday so they are setting up for outdoor dining. Girl at the door said hopefully by this weekendâŚseems pretty fast if true. Also donât know what took so long they have a pretty good setup there for outdoor dining.
Anjelicas was fully booked less than 48 hours after opening the phones for reservations. Wild.
I too am surprised. They have a large enough piece of property and the view from their parking lot and small lawn area is actually closer and better than being inside the actual restaurant.
SoâŚreservation for Nonnaâs made just hours agoâŚJustin takes one look at a photo of outside dining on their Insta/FB and says, âWow, thatâs a lot of people sitting really close.â A look of existential dread on his face, not saying any more as to not ruin my plans. UGH. Could be back to square one.
SCGâs tables were spread out very nicely. And although Iâve had two positive experiences there, Iâm not so sure I want it for my birthday. The saga continues.
Tramaâs? Drews? Inlet Cafe?
Adaâs?? Theyâve had their tables out and because itâs not âdowntownâ AP they donât get the same volume of peopleâŚand damn, their food is good! @MsBean can probably tell you more as sheâs been there recently.
ETA that for those who donât like Ethiopian, there are also Dominican dishes throughout the menu!
just a though- since the whole world will still be heading to the shore- maybe zig when they zag and look for a place inland a bit- but somewhere with a nice courtyard/garden/outdoor area instead- something shaded but obviously with booze too?
I was really hoping to go out somewhere, Drewâs (though long overdue) is curbside only. If I canât settle on a place, I just might do that.
Mr P said Il Nido has a nice setup and everyone gives it a big thumbs up for food.
just saw someone mention Molly Pitcher on FB- only been for brunch which I enjoyedâŚnot sure fi that hits the mark for you- but the patio setup and view is really nice.
Thatâs what drew me to Nonnaâs (Englishtown)- away from the shore crowd.
Itâs how I spend every mid May until sept sadly
Well I work in Atlantic Highlands so its unavoidable to me. And if I want to hit the beach and donât get out of the house by 9:30ish I know not to bother.
Yes, I would highly recommend Il Nido. Maybe you can request to dine in one of their nice private canopies. Below blurry picture is from their Instagram account. I couldnât find a clear picture.
As @CurlzNJ mentioned, we were at Adaâs recently - Sunday to be exact. We love Adaâs and had done take out a couple of times. It was our first âin restaurantâ meal. The tables were well spaced, in fact I said to Mr Bean they could have easily fit a few more tables. As it happened, some two-tops became fours and a couple of additional tables were brought out from inside.
There were a couple of things that I thought could have been better but in general, I was very comfortable eating there. For one, they presented their regular menu which means you donât know how many people touched it. I just used some hand sanitizer after they took the menu away. They had 3 wait people working the floor so several people came to the table. They were well masked and gloved and worked very efficiently. Never spent more than a minute at the table. Iâm a little obsessive about things and I was fine. Mr Bean (a HCW) and The Sprout laughed at me.
We had extra food and will be eating the leftovers tonight. I did get a souvenir:
Ev - When I saw the notification of your post in the Lost Restaurants thread I almost had a heart attack - Adaâs is closing? How can that be? They were rocking - in an absolutely great way - on Sunday. I let out a huge sigh of relief when I read it.
OMG SOOOOO sorry!! Not the case! And now Iâm going to need one of those shirtsâŚ
Iâve been resuscitated and all is well.
Isnât that a great shirt? They had a couple of other sayings on the back but I liked that one the best.
Maybe, maybe not COVID related: the Atlantic Highlands Burger King closed up without announcement last week. I never stepped foot in the place, but I work right by there and several coworkers claim it was the best place in town for a stomach ache. It seemed unchanged since the 90s. Definitely never got a remodel such as the one in Hazlet/UB further north on 36.
That part of AH has been a wasteland. Anything north of First Avenue. Phillyâs Cheesesteaks closed in October, never having much business (I worked there in another lifetime) and that sports bar that was once Neil Michaelâs IIRC was dead before it hit the ground.
One 18 American Bistro in Deal just announced that as of tomorrow they are permanently closed
I unfortunately read the same thing. Good luck to them, and the many others who will be following.
