Thought it was an interesting bit of history, myself.
I read that Lay’s is having a contest again for new flavor ideas.
DoUsAFlavor.com. 1million for the big prize.
I’m sure a HO will come up with a winner. Let us know!
15ish years ago, I entered a do us a flavour contest in Canada, and added Old Cheddar as one of the flavours.
Up to 3 flavours were allowed.
I think my suggestion was scalloped potato or pierogi flavour chips. The software programme responded that Old Cheddar was inappropriate and we should be kind to the elderly. I didn’t try Sharp Cheddar after that.
I had also suggested a Panang Curry chip. I have seen some Thai Red Curry chips around since my suggestion (just a coincidence!)
We have some great Indian markets around here (northern Va). The snack aisles always slap.
I usually want everything in the snack aisle at Indian markets.
Pickle chips with guac has cornered my snack fix. Lidl’s version is a fav at $1.99 a bag.
Some new Lay Canada flavours:
Tikka Masala, Turkey Dinner (Mackie’s from the UK, and a smaller Canadian company also make a turkey dinner or turkey and stuffing chip) , and Jerk Chicken. This is at Loblaws, one of the big 3 chain grocery stores.
2 for $9?!?! Good ol Blablahs
I didn’t buy any, lol.
I don’t know if they would be cheaper anywhere else for 220 g of Lay’s. I’ll price check if I see them elsewhere.
That’s why I don’t shop at Loblaws. I only buy the cheapest, finest chips money can buy
I’m sure some of these were previously posted in the 300+ foregoing comments…
I got the cumin lamb, hot pot, and chicken feet flavors
I had some Chinese Cheetos today, they are “Japanese Steak” flavor. I’m not sure I’ve had Japanese steak before so I don’t really know if it tastes like it, but it was sweet and savory. Pretty good.
I wonder what ‘chicken feet’ seasoning would be.
I’d go for those!
Interesting, because it looks like the labeling is in Romanian.
Now that you mention it, I concur!
Thanks for pointing this out. The international aisle does not have labels for the different sections and they must have just put all the ‘Eastern European’ things in the same section, which I mistook as Polish.
