Village Maria, Marlboro.

After a morning stop at the Asian Market the pizzeria owner was kind enough to open doors before 11am so I could pick up lunch.

Had my first experience with Vic’s in Bradley beach and must say was very impressed. May be my new local top spot. Reminded me very much of Deninos which is high praise. Pizza was thin and crispy while toppings did not make food soggy. Meatball parm was very good too, nice bread.
Topped off with some take home pastry from Del Pontes and it was a big win of a night

You found the right combo, alright! I’m definitely in the Vic’s camp.

I read that Rosie’s is opening a location in the old Sears auto shop in Middletown where Nicholas Creamery had also opened. :crossed_fingers:

My favorite Monmouth County pies are (my favorite style is thin crust, plain):
Vic’s, Bradley Beach (pictured below)
Federici’s, Freehold Borough (cash only)
Pete & Elda’s Bar/ Carmen’s Pizzeria, Neptune City (gets a bad rap for being too thin)
New Corner, Red Bank (my go to hometown pie every Friday evening)

I’m a big fan of their “cousin” Frankie Fed’s. Nearly identical pizzas. New Corner is a name I have throught of in forever, glad to know they are still doing their thing.

While vics is still my tops in county, tried the sauce in oceanport and man was it good. Def one we are gonna hit up few
More times but a promising contender locally is nice to have

Guess I’ll put this here.

Last night was my first trip to The Brothers in Red Bank in probably 5 years. Took mom out for pizza. She had a personal veggie pizza and I a Margherita, of which we both had leftovers. Shared a fried “galamad” and sauteed spinach because greens. Excellent martini for a place that appears to be more beer/wine.

The $9 price tag for Bombay Sapphire means there will be more visits to come. I don’t remember the last single digit cocktail price. Actually, it was and is Costa Verde which charges the same mind-boggling amount.

For those following my Prohibition history research on social media, I also shared this:

The Prohibition Era has literally permeated every aspect of my life lately. Even the simple act of eating pizza and enjoying a martini at The Brothers, which was once the West End Hotel and a haven for bootleggers. It was situated along Red Bank’s rumrunning route that led to the Navesink River, and was the site of several “sting” operations, which led to the confiscating of illegal booze. So much history, here, there, and everywhere, just hidden in plain sight if you know where to look.

So many different styles of pizza, from the thin crust Brothers/Star Tavern/Pete and Elda’s to naturally leavened doughs, to traditional pizzeria style. I laugh when people claim one to be the absolute best. Everyone should be happy we have so many to choose from

Love Brothers, it was always a stop with the team, or with large family gatherings. Easy, casual, and relatively quality offerings at a very fair price. A couple of tweaks and I could have my Roman style pizza without the flight.

Yum! Is that zucchini and pancetta??

Yes, zucchini, smoked provola, and guanciale. Since it was two weeks ago, I am pining for it.

The back one had puntarelle and burrata, iirc.

Also, while we are here if anyone has a hookup at Heineken send them my way. There is a Sardinian beer that may be the perfect beer for pizza. It is an unfiltered lager called Ichnusa. Heineken owns it here in the states but does not distribute it locally.

Maybe it was where I was drinking it, and when. (like a tropical drink on vacation that doesn’t taste right sitting on the beach in NJ) But it was very tasty, but I am not the biggest beer drinker. ymmv

Have you tried asking a place like Total Wine or Wegmans wine to see if their distributor can get it?

I asked my contact at Bottle King and he said they don’t distribute over here so no dice. But I will keep asking. Even my liquor salesman friends was no help. But thank you.

It’s available online at ridiculous pricing so no chance I will do that.
