Paris Olympics Inspired Eats / What are You Eating While You Watch?

I’ve been craving baguette with butter (ham optional), crepes, and gougeres all week.

Anyone borrowing inspiration from the Olympics in what they’re eating?

Or building up cravings (which is where I am so far)?

(@Stef_bakes already has gougeres going!)

Yes, love gougères. These have finely chopped rosemary in them. Recipe is from Baking with Dorie. Steak et frites tomorrow.

I made gougeres too, inspired by @Stef_bakes!

These are “gargantuan gougeres” courtesy David Boulud.

Missing a glass of bubbles.

There are lots of Olympics-related recipe collections up, some interesting, some strange.

Whatever you’re eating, send some over to Paris for the athletes.

Cuz, they be starving.

I chose Grey Goose over Smirnoff or Absolut yesterday.

Vive la France!

I made an omelette filled with black pepper Boursin for brunch, which is kind of French.

Aesthetics? Nothing wrong with the look of that tart! :yum:

Did you have to do anything special to get rid of the juice in the tomatoes?

Aww thanks!

The article I linked upthread from the Guardian suggested cooking the tomatoes in the caramel so the juices exude and can be reduced before baking

But I think that’s why they didn’t hold shape. I think one could salt the tomatoes to extract some liquid instead.

(Though with Apple tarte tatin and apple pie, I have poured off and cooked down fhe liquid after baking if there’s too much.)

I just noticed the “borrow inspiration” part. I stopped reading after “What are you eating …”!

You’re good — what are you inspired by, what are you eating while watching, what countries are represented via food, and all the rest.

Just a bit of fun, no rules!
