Openings/closings Oct/Nov/Dec [Boston, New England]

As I posted last Sunday, Ritu has left but the new management has kept her sous-chef, Mohan, and other staff. It MAY be that not much will change. Details on their FB page.

They are keeping the name, and planning a big Diwali shindig.

When is the shindig?

Check their FB page, details to be posted there.

Someone on Reddit says the Paris Baguette right off the North Quincy T station is finally opening today. There was a friends and neighbors even yesterday apparently, but I wasn’t going to head over with the rain.

Sally’s Apizza opened up in the Woburn Village Mall last week (near the Shake Shack and cate-corner from the MB). I guess there were very long lines out the door waiting on Thursday the 14th when they opened. A snippet from a Google pic.

Has anyone had this pizza?

I’ll be interested in trying it and hearing reports. Sally’s in New Haven is the gold standard by which I judge all others. If they can capture any of that in Woburn, I’m in.

I hope it’s good, but my friends and I have been disappointed by all the non-original Pepe’s locations we’ve tried. Can New Haven pizza magic be exported? Looking forward to your (or any) reports!

The original can never be duplicated and I agree about the Pepe’s satellites. For me the original Sally’s is >> the original Pepe’s. If they can capture just a small bit of the magic it would be a welcome addition to this area.

I started a new quarterly thread here and will move those early January posts to it for continuity.

The spouse went to Sally’s Apizza in Woburn with a friend today for lunch and said that the pizza was really good! Now I have to go and check it out!

Has anyone else been? Other than the report that it opened back in Dec , I can’t find any Hungry Onion reviews. BTW, the waitperson said that it isn’t too crazy at lunchtime but there are still long lines at dinner.

It’s OK, above average-ish for the pizza available around here, however having been to the original (a lot), it really does not compare. Our pies were underdone without Sally’s signature crust and char. It made me sad to be honest. If you’ve never been to the original, it’s worth a visit. If there are lines, it’s definitely not worth waiting, or a drive from the city based on my one data point. Hop on Amtrak and take a trip to New Haven instead.
