Was this from Oink and Moo?

Yes! That would have been good info to include! I was doing this from my phone ha!

It was all super flavorful. The coleslaw was interesting, mustard forward rather than typical heavy mayo. Also, I really enjoyed the baked beans. Definitely had chipotle smokiness coming through and I bet they use chocolate or cocoa.

Not exactly a cheap takeout option but I think worth it. About $40 for both platters with a little bit of leftovers.

Glad you enjoyed it! Of all foods, BBQ is certainly more expensive than ever… I have a family member who works in wholesale meat distribution (in a different state) and she was telling me that the prices have skyrocketed for them.

I know this could go on the Media page for the site, but I want so many of YOU HOs to see it that I’m posting it here, because I was legit LOLing! Enjoy this piece about the worst dinner ever at a Michelin-starred restaurant. YW!

Reminded me of my dinner at Joël Robuchon in Vegas. What a giant waste of $$$$$.

Sorry to say, my lunch yesterday at Oink and Moo with two buddies was disappointing. For $50.00 plus for 3 sandwiches, 2 bottled teas, fries and Brussels sprout sides I was expecting a cut above. The slaw was greasy, the meat was cold and the fries were not fresh. Really head shaking.

WOWSA. That’s no bueno!

Was this take-out or eat in?

Eat in. We sat by the indoor bar setup within the Bell Labs space. The ordering setup at Oink &Moo is cafe style with indoor (raised) table/chair seating.

Actually the current (non Bell Market) food options are much smaller now. I live across the street from the complex since 1983. I’m there for events, walking, bar, shows and haircuts. The turnover is very high the last few years. When I was there Saturday, basketball camp and a few kiddie bday parties were going on. So I was thinking grabbing lunch would be easy. It was, no one else there. Maybe that’s why the food tasted leftover from the day before.

Since you were eating in, there’s no excuse for the meat not being hot and the fries not being fresh. Why didn’t you complain and insist they replace those items with hot meat and fresh fries? (Slaw sounds like a lost cause.)

Our go to place for bbq has been Jersey Shore BBQ, in East Brunswick, since they opened several years ago. Before the pandemic, we always ate there and found everything we ordered there to be first rate. However, once or twice, the mac and cheese was not hot. We told them, and they immediately replaced it with a piping hot portion. After the pandemic began, we did curbside, no contact pick-up until we were fully vaccinated. Since then, we mask up, go inside to get our order and take it home. Hot items have always been given to us hot. Anything hot that cools down too much by the time we get home (we’re a 15-20 minute ride away) I reheat.

On our way out of BL, I popped in with my comments. Received an apology. There is much better bbq elsewhere. I was focused on my experience at Oink & Moo on this thread.

Frankly, I don’t see the sense of accepting sub-par food and complaining only when about to leave.

Frankly that’s for me to decide for myself. Your reply is not helpful. A tad, Condescending.

Whoa! Sorry you had such a disappointing experience! What a bummer.

It happens. I took a chance. Win some…
Doesn’t stop me from trying recommendations.

Well, that was epically horrible!!

I’m curious Curlz, could you please post about your dinner at Robuchon. I would love to hear what happened. Or maybe you already did, and can post a link?

It was a LONG time ago. As in, pre-HO… I’ll see if I can find it on CH, but no clue how searchable that stuff is any more!

Thank you, Google! Not even CH days… eGullet days!!

ETA that this was my initial post, if you scroll down half a dozen more, you’ll see a full description of the evening.

Thank you for finding that.

Wow, that is just inexcusable!! Did you ever hear back from them?

That’s a service that you never want to repeat every again!
