Doesn’t the Asbury Park distillery make vodka?
Source of rumor mill, confusing K Siam with Siam Garden in RB.
Ah yes, the acai bowl thing. Good one! They are LOADED with sugar.
I have yet to go to carton and kane, but have had their beers. They are tasty. I would like to stop in the brewery soon and check them out.
I do believe you are correct, however from what I’ve been told it’s only “ok” as well so I’ve been in no hurry to give it a try.
Wow. Ok. LOL
FWIW Siam Thai on 34 in Colts Neck has closed.
Ok, since you brought that place up. We drove by this a ton of times and it ALWAYS looked closed. Like one car in the parking lot. We went once or twice for lunch and again, the only people in the place. It was bizarre. Did you ever go?
I had never been there as it’s Thai incarnation. My favorite Thai places when I’m in the mood are Muang Thai in Red Bank and Far East Taste in Eatontown. I used to go regularly when it was an Italian restaurant but that was many moons ago. (so long ago I can’t even remember it’s name)
We are fans of Muang Thai, too. I’ll need to check out Far East Taste next time we are in the Long Branch area. Thanks for the recommendation!
Just a FYI, Far East Taste is only about a 10 min drive South on 35 to Eatontown. Nowhere nearly as far as Long Branch which is a good 20-30 (or more with the summer traffic).
We can thank txt messaging for the speed of misinformation. Which is why I asked you.
Never been.
AP Distillery does indeed make vodka, and I like it. Mr. @MsBean brought a bottle to a HOdown and we drank it straight–that was my intro to it. Very smooth, and evidently winning all kinds of awards when up against others.
I used to go to a pretty good Italian place in Colts Neck called I Cavellini on RT 34. The chef was a woman named Toni. Is that the place?
I remember her - Toni Froio i think. She’s been around a long time - at many different venues. I wonder what happened to her.
Yes, that was it back in the day. I also thought it was pretty good.
This location has an interesting restaurant history. The first time we went there, it was an upscale French restaurant, the name of which escapes me. Very attractive with dark wood paneling, tablecloths, etc. Next came I Cavellini (the dark wood paneling was white-washed). Following that, a fish & seafood restaurant, second location of a fish market/restaurant near Red Bank. When the chef/owner died, his wife closed the Colts Neck location but continued with the original. Siam Thai was the latest. It closed several months ago. We went to all of them, often several times. Our last visit to Siam Thai was lunch last year in August. I have photos of all our meals at S.T. The others pre-dated when I started taking food photos (2009).
[Maybe someone (@seal ? @BossaNova ? ) remembers the names of the two restaurants I don’t.]
I Cavellini was the place I was thinking of. They closed due to smoking violations which caused the ABC to investigate them and found some other “irregularities” which eventually led to their demise. This was when the initial smoking ban took place, he would still allow smoking at the upstairs bar and someone reported him.
@RGR I have vague recollection of a French place being there but -0- recollection of the seafood place you are speaking of.
Re: Toni Froio. The first time we ate her food was at The Farmingdale House, in Adelphia, an expensive Italian but, we felt, totally worth it because her food was superb. After leaving there, she took over the kitchen at I Cavellini (it opened with a different chef). Iirc, she next cooked at a private golf club in the area. No word of what happened to her after that.
