NJ Food News

We ended up at Bahr’s after all. I must say, I just looked it up on HO and I did not know there was so much disdain for the place!

In any event, our meal was excellent. Though the fog literally prevented us from seeing beyond the dock, I enjoyed our experience. One of the best seafood platters I’ve ever had. Pics and full review coming in a day or two.

Thank goodness! Another brewery in Red Bank…

I know people love their craft beer, but you can indeed have too much of a good* thing.

*Good for those who love craft beer. I, personally, never jumped on the wagon.

Is Kunya Siam closing? I was told that was the case and am very surprised by that news. @gcaggiano ?

Oh my! I have not heard that. I don’t think they are? I only occasionally do work for her so I am not 100% in the loop. I will try to find out.

I’m all about a good beer. Can Red Bank support this much craft beer drinking?!

Either the demand is there and it will be fine or the market will be flooded and we will see some closures. I know everyone wants to be in Red Bank because it is trendy or whatever, but FIVE breweries???

This honestly reminds me of the frozen yogurt “craze” of about a decade ago, where the greater Red Bank area went from -0- frozen yogurt shops to something like 10 within a year. Obviously smaller scale but holy crap, talk about jumping on a bandwagon.

(ok so I’m a little bitter the only vodka distillery I’ve tried was the Colts Neck place and it sucked)

FroYo, cupcakes, breweries…

I’m with you, @NotJrvedivici – more distilleries! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Okay, I just spoke to someone close to the restaurant and they said it was a total rumor. Mind if I ask where you heard it? You can message me privately.

Don’t forget about cupcake pops! I think there were 3 at one point.

They were open Saturday night

Auto body mechanic mentioned it. Another customer passed the info. I am very glad that is NOT the case and I will correct the rumor. Thxs, man.

Yes, please do. With so many restaurants coming and going, it could spread like wildfire.

The frozen yogurt thing reminds me of “The Good Place”! :relieved:

The whole brewery thing is right up there with that acai over-priced smoothie dumped into a bowl and cost way too much things. Those places are everywhere.

My vote is yes. Hopefully they produce some decent beer but it only has to be mediocre to survive IMO.

Have you seen carton and kane? You can’t even get a parking spot at these places now. They are putting out some great beer though.

This could be the start of a whole new thread: annoying and overdone “trends” . Mark sees one in all these restaurants with cutesy names-- our canonical name for this sort of place is “The Pernicious Pickle”. I should go back and look at that “Good Place” episode and see what other types were overdone. (The obvious one is coffeehouses.)

I swear I was going to mention those, but I held back!!

@eleeper I’ve never watched The Good Place but may have to now.

@CurlzNJ I’ve met the owner of Player Bowls through work. Really nice guy but I personally don’t get the whole bowl thing.
