Monmouth Meats remains open. No Covid specials but a reminder that they do have family packages.

I’d eat it! I am sure it is decent and a good value. Most food there is good.

You’re a fellow pickle guy too I think?

Do they have a website or phone number?

Victory Park Tavern has menu for pickup or delivery- plus in cool move- kids meals are free. Booze at very reasonable prices too (beer bottles eg 2/250 a bottle for beer, reasonable wine, even bottles of vodka, tequilla liter of Titos for 40- not too bad)

As of this morning Shanghai Bun is closed. :sob:

I wonder if that is for good

Takeout from Neelam in Middletown last night. We shared a chicken tikka masala, chicken Kashmiri, bindi masala, the special kabob, and a vegetable korma (which they graciously gave on the house). For appetizers, we had vegetable pakora and samosa. Delicious as always! Happy to say that I inquired about how they are doing and they said their takeout business has been “crazy”. This is a great family-owned restaurant that my family and I have been dining at since we moved to New Jersey when I was four.

That’s awesome! We love neelam and decided earlier this will be our first meal out. They hold a special place for us. We took both sets of parents there to meet the first time before we got married, first meal out with our 2 week old baby and where I wanted to go when I was numb after I learned my nana died. We love the food and the family.

It’s a very special place for us as well. I’m not sure if I ever shared this on HO, but the first meal we had there after my father passed, in place of the check they set a note down on the table saying what a nice man he was and that dinner was on them. I almost cried right there.

I haven’t gone searching for it, but I think you did tell us that story, Greg. They sound like lovely people.

Beautiful. That’s very sweet.

I noticed the sign outside Garigulio’s promoting their delivery and take out times has been removed this weekend. I assume they have decided to wait the balance of this out.

honestly- I didn’t think they were still open in general. They make 0 mention of the NJ location on their website. I also don’t know one person IRL who has gone there- anecdotal evidence being what it is- but I mean I even know people who went to via Avanti on Newman springs for Pete’s sake…and not one person there at all…and I prob know 50 people within 5 miles from Brooklyn.

Yes they had a sign our front advertising their to go / delivery hours etc. I noticed this morning it was gone, normally they are closed on Tuesdays, so my gut is they are done for now. I went opening night and while it was “good” it wasn’t great and honestly at their prices I expect better than I can get at Mangia or Villiagio(?) in Lincroft.

that seems to be the consensus for what I hear. I also see people with issue with portion size as well.

I know you also mentioned the attire issues with fellow customers (something I heard elsewhere too).

Actually you are correct I as a bit miffed by an adult in shorts and a tee-shirt at the table next to us. lol

yeah- I don’t get that at all- and it’s across age too- so it can’t be blamed on just those youngsters. I understand wearing jeans to a bar or a t-shirt to a place on the water but to wear t-shirt and shorts or sweats to a white tablecloth spot and a hat for a bonus, just baffles me… IF it’s too much to put on chinos and a golf shirt maybe just get takeout or delivery? Nobody loves sweat pants more than me, but they have a time and a place…
I’l leave the cell phone conversations and kids running unattended for another day…

At this point I’d wear my tuxedo for the chance to go out and eat in a restaurant.

When this is over, we need a black tie HO Down at a favorite mid-level restaurant (e.g., Sichuan Cottage) after it re-opens, partly for us to celebrate and partly to show the restaurant how highly we think of them.
