New Jersey Coronavirus/Covid19 Local Restaurant Specials

So, is Sichuan Cottage closed? Called (no joke) 17 times over the course of 15 minutes and a busy signal each time.

Usually, when we get takeout from there, we will leave and call halfway through the car ride. Tonight, we only drove 5 minutes and called. We even pulled over and waited several minutes to keep trying.

Could they have been that busy or is the phone disconnected?

Anyway, we headed in the opposite direction for Kunya again since we were not in the mood for pizza/Italian.

I have to guess they were BUSY!

I hope so. Though I can’t believe that busy!

Salt Creek Grille enters the takeout biz:

I know they are in Rumson, but does anyone else find their prices a bit steep?

Yes. 4 chicken breasts that you have to still cook for $75 is pricey.

That happened to me two Saturdays ago. The phone was so busy I finally just drove there and ordered inside. She said they were short of help.

As @gracieggg mentioned the chicken @ $37.5 per chicken is a bit above say Boston Market’s prices. (or
$ 4.99 @ Costco? lol) But how about under “Pick up raw”…the first item “12 oz Coffee Rubbed NY” = $110. - however if you notice every other offering states the number of portions you are getting besides this first one? Is it really $ 110 for 1 steak?

This goes in the Salt Creek “Thanks but no thanks” file.

And yes, I wonder how many you get since it is not in there.

Absolutely what I thought as I read it! $75 for 2 cooked chickens?!?

And not to pile on but not even 2lbs of salmon (that you still have to cook yourself!) for $75. Holy moly. Local 130 has beautiful salmon for like $14 per lb.

Now Now - I’m sure those mashed potatoes can really jack up the price of a chicken or steak :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

“I’m going to the Boulangerie in Red Bank to pick up some bread flour today. I saw David’s comment about the lemon loaf. I am a fellow lemon head!!! If they have any, I am bringing some home! Since I’ll be coming home through Asbury, I’d be happy to drop one off to you.”

That’s the text I got earlier today from @heidicooksandbakes and as I said to her (after YEEEEEESSSS), this is what I love about THIS community. She seriously made my day with the offer, and then the bonus was (at a safe distance AND in masks), I got to see her! She just dropped it off and I believe the sound I made when I looked in the bag can only be classified as a full-on SQUEAL. Look how freaking adorable this is!

Can’t WAIT to try it. Thanks again, Heidi!! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Glad that they are still in business but living a half hour away, I couldn’t chance it by ordering in person.

Hard to believe that after being closed for a month, THAT is what they came up with.

Unless you’re severely detached from reality, i can’t imagine ANY clientele dolling out $60 for meatloaf. Not even Rumson. Jesus. LOL

Pleased to report that it’s EXCELLENT (and also that I didn’t eat the entire thing in one sitting). The cake is SO light and lemony, and the icing (I guess it’s icing because it’s thicker than a glaze) is also lemon forward. DElicious!!

(you realize the next step after responding to your own post is sitting alone on a park bench feeding and talking to the pigeons)

I think it’s kind of exciting that someone in Rumson/LS/FH is eating $60 meat loaf and I’m sure they didn’t even look at the receipt.
