I think most of the green in commercial pistachio ice cream is food coloring. When my PIC makes his aMAZing pistachio ice cream, it is a very, very light shade of green.
I love that brand. I’m a little sorry I noticed this because I now I will look for this flavor.
Why be sorry? What’s not to love about a new ice cream flavor from your favorite brand??
CELEBRATE!
My dad loved it. Back in the day, it was really green. Now, not so much. Just so long as the pistachios are there, I’m happy.
Could someone tell me what this is and how it is used? <
To add to WIki, I remember the bottle from business trips to China; I understand it is used at weddings as a shot of choice.
Wild red shrimp from Argentina - sold frozen at a budget supermarket called Iceland in the UK. I think I bought two 200 gram bags for £10. When I defrosted and peeled them, they looked and felt high quality.
They’ve gone into a special occasion Bengali shrimp preparation called ‘malai kari’ - curried with coconut milk - apparently a recipe adopted from Malay traders in bygone days.
I love a good shrimp curry. How was the texture? I ask bc I often find them softer than, say, black tiger shrimp.
My family prefer a softer texture with shrimp/prawns - so I add the shrimp last minute and turn off the heat very soon after so they poach in the sauce. We haven’t tried the curry yet - it will be eaten tomorrow after the flavours have had a chance to meld and settle.
The texture / flavor of those is closer to lobster than other shrimp, sweet and firm.
Enjoy the malai curry! One of my favorites.
(My Bengali friend makes his mom’s version for any occasion as we all love it as much as he does.)
Gotcha. I prefer mine with a bite and a snap… like a hot dog of the sea
I haven’t purchased this yet, but it seemed to fit this thread.
Hmmm…
I’ve bought a dried Aji Amarillo pouch from McCormicks before, that was a limited time offering, maybe 6 years ago? I liked it
If that’s the Maotai I’ve had in Taiwan it is seriously strong stuff. Heavy hangover stuff.
Also…… it’s kind of interesting that this brand comes in a container that looks like it could be lighter fluid or kerosene.
New to me, not sure whether product is new. Frozen SeaPack Calamari. I’m looking forward to baking and tasting these.
Please report back. We didn’t like Trader Joe’s calamari at all. Hoping these are better.
I’ve had them. Not the greatest, not the worst. I used Mae Ploy chili sauce.
These are from a Persian market in Santa Monica. They look a lot like golden raisins, or Sultanas, or sultainas, which are apparently not all the same dried grape, and these seem large, moist, and expensive.
Can anyone share any insights?
