New items you’ve purchased at the grocery store

Strange but true!

1,000% agree!!! They do great sour tomatoes too! All our chain markets have stopped carrying them and the only local option is a tiny kosher deli, that was just sold, so my fingers are crossed.

Does TJ Maxx count?

I saw it retails for $20+ and decided to try it. It has a nice viscosity.

The amount of food items I’ve purchased at TJ Maxx to try it out… :open_mouth: So yes, it counts.

Two different types of frozen pizza (DH-inspired purchases): the Amazon Fresh Supreme Rising Crust ($4.99)

And the Motor City Pizza Co. Double Pepperoni from Costco ($12.99 for two)

The Amazon one is quite possibly the worst frozen food item I have ever tasted - the crust and sauce are both absolutely foul. The Motor City Pizza, on the other hand, is not bad at all for frozen pizza. It is not really authentic Detroit-style and it’s a little skimpy on cheese overall, but all of the components taste good in and of themselves. The crust gets very crispy when baked in the provided tray, but needs more cheese on the edges to form the signature burnt cheese border of a real Detroiter. I’ll add cheese to the second one before baking. I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy it again, but for an easy emergency freezer meal, it’s fine.

I sliced them into planks and sautéed them in butter with some whole garlic cloves. Served as a side with 3 cheese raviolis, homemade pesto and a tossed mixed green salad. :two_hearts:

I’ve had the Motor City Supreme. I liked it - it was surprisingly tasty; its size is just too much for me …

Spouse buys it at Costco and the guys all like it fine. I’m spoiled by Stracci and really don’t want to eat frozen pizza of any sort.

Is there a frozen pizza that isn’t? I’m still looking. I augment …

Same. Spouse has a soft spot for it and I’m not quite sure why!

We both like them!

Also, guinciale. I already had mail-order guanciale, but I could not resist it when I saw it at the local Nugget market.

Labeled “Hobb’s Smoked guanciale”

I couldn’t find a guinciale thread and I have so much guanciale. I need non-pasta ideas. Maybe a GLT salad🤔.

Do you have an air fryer?

If so, slice thinly, and make guanicale “chips”
