I’ve noticed many local spice specialties bet the hell out of the grocery store ones. We’ve got one by us called “Pleasoning” that is wildly popular in our area. I’ll definitely take your word. If they were on Dirty Jobs, count me in.
I heard about it from folks who actually steam crabs. I’ve now seen the smaller containers in some family specialty grocery stores; not in chains around here - yet. The difference between #1 and #2 is salt. I ordered mine directly from JO because at the time I didn’t see it for sale anywhere.
Mike Rowe is originally from the Baltimore area …
That sounds right down my alley! Do you eat it straight out of the jar (I might) or how do you use it?
I have been taking bites out of the jar but also using as a side with rice and the leftover marinated eggplant I made last weekend. Also threw a few into my pho last night. So crunchy and sour with a tiny hint of sweet - not totally dissimilar to nuoc cham
That looks delectable. Wonder if it’s available on the east coast.
I’m on the east coast. I’ve not seen it before and Sprouts just opened near me so I’m not sure where else it’s sold.
I’ll be on the lookout. Maybe Philly has a Sprouts
I’ll definitely check that out. Butterscotch caramel appeals to me as much as the honey. I go to Sprouts from time to time, but I’ve never even looked to see what ice cream they carry.
I’m not into sweet popcorn either, usually, but this stuff is seriously addictive: https://www.cretorspopcorn.com/products/cheese-caramel-mix
I like 2-3 kernels of cheese per 1 of caramel .
A while after posting this, I remembered Screaming Yellow Zonkers, with a crunchy sugar coating. I liked them when I was a kid. They’re not made anymore.
Well, that didn’t take long. I bought some of that ice cream yesterday. I thought it might be too sweet, but it really wasn’t. Kinda pricey but very good.
Yeah, there are a few mixes I can abide. The cheese def helps
Yes its a splurge but every spoonful was making me smile.
Hard to find outside of airports (or the Chicago area), but Garrett’s “Garrett Mix” is everything Cretor’s could/should be, but isn’t. https://www.garrettpopcorn.com/ I too enjoy a 2:1 ratio of cheese to caramel, and when I’m at the shop (there’s one here in Las Vegas, in a mall) I can request it mixed to that ratio.
Oh yeah, this is the brand my sister (who lives in Chicago) always has around her house - it is seriously delicious!
The last time I was at Costco almost every cart had a bottle of thatin it! Must be popular? This is the Costco where everyone from everywhere that is visiting for the summer loads up their trailers. We often park a block away to avoid the parking lot
I saw a pallet of it at Costco tonight but didn’t even look at it because I forgot about this thread.
I tried those. Coulda downed that bag in a coupla chigs. Great idea.
