McDonald's in General

Speaking of eh, Maryland is supposed to be getting 10 Tim Horton’s …

Maybe they don’t automatically come with them - that’s one reason I use the app, you can customize the order, I generally add extra pickles to everything lol.

I don’t remember pickles on my filet o’fish either. I think it is just in the smear of the tartar sauce they used to put in them. But now that I think about it, I don’t think I even had tartar sauce on my sandwich. As a kid, I used to scrape it off, and I can’t think of the last time doing that. Must have been getting dry sandwiches for a while already.

Filet o fish is just fish, cheese and tartar sauce in Ontario, although I think pickles could be added as a modification through the self order terminal.

If that "independant’ place is Grebe’s, I’m in.

Nope - it was in a now torn down shopping mall.

Technically there’s pickles in the tartar sauce in the form of relish.

Of course you can also make tartar sauce with pickles instead of with relish. Still contains pickles LOL.

Tartar sauce isn’t the fix for a pickle craving

No, not it isn’t.

But I am a BIG fan of tartar sauce. And really, all things mayo.

Re: Tartar Sauce
Pickles flavoring: pickles, pickle relish or capers in YOUR tartar sauce?
Onions: powdered, green, yellow or white?
Mayo: real (Duke’s, Hellman’s/Best Foods), Miracle Whip, or homemade or other?
What else?
Do you make your tartar differently to accompany different seafood dishes?
I put chopped parsley in most of mine, bu will add some hot sauce to fried oysters or clams.
I usually serve my seafood neat, with a lemon wedge or three.

I love me some tartar sauce!

This was my favorite commercial sauce. The company still exists, but the product doesn’t.

I hate when that happens. Guess I’ll have to start rolling my own.

Kraft Mayo, Kewpie, Hellman’s or Sir Kensington Mayo. No Miracle Whip for me!

I’ll tolerate it in someone else’s kitchen. LOL

Im struck by how bad McDonalds has become, especially for the price. I’ve gotten to where I’ll settle for it if there’s nothing else around.

There are just so many better options.

For where I live, McDonald’s is a pretty good option.

The article I posted is about US McD’s profits.

I get the feeling McD’s in my region in Canada had an increase in profits over the first quarter.

The locations I visit have been good.

I went through decades of preferring Wendy’s to McD’s, and lately, I prefer McD’s to Wendy’s or Burger King.

In terms of Canadian fast food, McD’s is still providing good value.

Which are the better options for you?

I mostly go to McD’s when I’m on the road, and I use the drive thru. I also stop to use their rest rooms.

Culvers is my first choice. Ill choose Burger King just necause I prefer the burgers. Next in line are the chicken places.

I like Culver’s but we don’t have any in Canada.

I liked Burger King in the 1980s. The 2 locations in LondonOn that I have visited in the past 5 years aren’t getting it right. The 2 Whoppers I’ve ordered have tasted fine, although it seemed one was over-salted.

The breakfasts have been weak. I think some new Franchisees here in Canada aren’t following the book or training their staff.

A &W, McD’s and BK have been expanding quickly into the starter neighborhoods on the edge of town, trying to keep up with the growing population, largely immigrant population.

Southern Ontario is also having a boom of cheaper fast casual Indian Street Food options, some Canadian Mexican knock- offs of Chipotle, and shawarma spots in our strip plazas.

Where I live, butcher shops and cheese stores have their own lunch deals for $5 that whoop the hail out of any McD’s crap. Go local!
