Lucky! My butcher Sanagan’s has a good ready-made sandwich that was $8 last time I ordered one. It costs more than a burger or sandwich at McD’s. A ready-made deli sandwich won’t be the fix for a burger craving for me, so it’s sort of comparing apples to oranges.
I don’t know of any $5 or $10 lunch deals in Toronto at the local butcher shops. Going rate for a good sandwich seems to be usually around $12 and up, everywhere, except for cheaper $5-$7 banh mi and Shawarma in some enclaves. $5 tacos, too, some places.
There is a butcher and sausage shop called Segovia Meats that makes a great and affordable Choripan (sausage in a bun sandwich, popular on Argentina, Uruguay and some other
South American countries), but I’m sure the salt, fat and calories in that Massive Choripan make the Big Mac look like health food.
Confession: Back in the 70’s and 80’s the Jumbo Jack @ JITB was the best in our area, followed by 1/4# Giant Burgers, Smokehouse and the local smaller chains. McD’s didn’t rate. There were no A&Ws or Dairy Queens or Wendy’s that I knew of unless one was traveling along the major highways in California. Then came the e.coli incident and fast food burgers sort of disapperared.
Cashton, WI and Brooklyn are many miles apart. There is a Brooklyn, WI though. McD’s never really satisfied my burger craving very well. The beef isn’t as beefy as I’d like. I remember liking the McDLT, though.

Quarter pounder with cheese was the first solid food u]I ate getting out of my recent hospital stay. Ate it slowly. Didn’t finish it - on purpose, because it was fresh and hot. Just was being careful, kind of.
I don’t like them at all — don’t care for fried shredded potatoes in any form, be it hash browns, Reibekuchen, latkes, which would explain my ignorance.
