Splurge at the Oyster House. 2 of each kind on offer to make a dozen, plus 2 cherrystones just for me as my PIC’s not a fan. My two favorite varieties were the Sweet Amalias — briny, yet sweet, and the Chef’s Creek — medium briny and very creamy.

Ima lucky besh

Lemongrass pork summer rolls & grilled pork banh mi with extra do chua & paté from Ba Le Bakery, devoured on the sunny patio on 9th street :sunny:

We added some of this amazing spicy  kumquat dipping sauce I purchased there as well. I’m in love :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

My lunch for the week - Black eyed peas, brown lentils, and potato in a coconut, chile, and tamarind gravy, Goan style. I wrote this up under the South Indian Cuisine of the Month thread. It is really delicious!

Just devoured a “Special combination” Banh mi from Ba Le for today’s lunch. I keep ordering it with extra veg and they don’t actually seem to do extra. :woman_shrugging:

Ooooh! Which number is the special combo — so I can order that one next time? The Ba Le banh mi was disappointing.

Also I think the veg is basically the cucumber slices on top; the jalapeño is probably their version of “spicy.” The def added more pickled veg for us as ordered. And MOAR paté  :pig:

I must have missed you by a few minutes. I have a customer across the street and got the #2 with crispy pork belly. And some of the wide rice noodles with meat.

Special combination is the #1- various porky meats : ) . I actually wanted to go to Cafe Cuong around the corner but it isn’t open on Mondays, which is why I never seem to get there since my WFH day is usually Monday.

I can’t wait for my pho adventure (I have 3 places at least to try) once the fall weather sets in. IF it ever does

With what I know of your Tastes (only that you like Spicy) you may want to look for Bún bò Huế.
I love Phở as well but when I know that a place has good Bún bò Huế I always get it instead.
I like it with regular flat Phở Noodles(Bánh Phở) rather than the thicker round Rice Noodle that is traditional.

Yes!!! There’s a place nearby that apparently makes a killer Bún bò Huế. We’ll have to get both one night and compare

If you dislike Blutwurst(or other blood products) you may want to order it without the Blood Cubes.

I love pan-fried Blutwurst, but prefer my soups without coagulated (or fresh) blood. It doesn’t add much for me, overall, save for making the soup heavier/richer than I’d like it to be.
