Glorious sunny day, shopping and chores(almost) done, Saturday brunch was in order.
Eggs, crispy bacon and hash browns, side of toasted English muffin.
A delicious lunch shared with @Bigley9 at the SEA market, sadly my final
visit here (at least for the year).
The grilled chicken hearts were plump & juicy, with a nice char. We were both lamenting the lack of a proper dipping sauce, however.
The summer rolls were ok, better than others I’ve had there.
At the Amish farmstand I dropped into in Lancaster today with some out-of-town friends wanting local apples to take home, I was delighted and surprised to catch a whiff of chicken bbq. So instead of driving to some tourist trap of a restaurant, we are chicken, potatoes and fixins outside at the farmstand, in a sea of mums and pumpkins. They had cut dahlias too
Got a loaf of homadoma from Lost Bread at the farmers market this morning since @linguafood got me craving it! Toasted and topped with a late season tomato, a little bacon, and some chicken of the woods I had sautéed up earlier in the week. Good flavors, could have used something to bring it all together, but I used up some things that were hanging around!
Beautiful.
…
I had a bowl of Shchi/ Russian cabbage soup, with a dollop of sour cream for lunch.
We grabbed a loaf, too! Thx again for the hot tip about the FM they sell at
Today’s lunch was the last of the roasted cauliflower salad. I will be making leek soup for lunch tomorrow so this week I will alternate between the soup and a cauliflower, green olive and caper salad.
A slightly caramelized, Black Forest ham, scallion, tomato and feta omelette for Thanksgiving brunch. Toasted sesame baguette on the side.
Plate’o pickles🤗 How was the macaroni salad “weird”?
Hard to explain, but it was sweet in a different way than Amish-style. Neither of us cared for it, and we like a good mac salad. Perhaps we’re spoiled by what I make myself
What time is lunch?
After breakfast.
Very funny
Pumpkin ravioli courtesy of TJ. These are a buy again for us, a three minute cook time made for a quick lunch. They were topped with sauteed mushrooms, scallions, a little garlic and a skinned and crumbled Italian sausage. Peperoncini and assorted seasoning were added , mini San Marzano tomatoes, along with some light turkey broth I had at hand. Freshly grated cheese and lunch was served.
A mini tart for dessert, pistachio pastry cream and raspberries, chopped pistachios.
