Reuben’s on St Catherine near Ville Marie used to be open for breakfast. It opens at noon now. I wonder when the hours changed.
In which neighbourhood will you be staying?

Thanks for the research. The hotel I stay in is in the Golden Mile.
I’ve been having a heck of a time finding restaurants to eat at. Some are only open for dinner service and others are only open from Thursday through Sunday. That’s not very helpful if you’re visiting from out of town. The restaurants in Ottawa have also been keeping abbreviated hours and they aren’t open very late. Starting in September I have screenings with the Ottawa Film Society twice a month. I work until 4:30 and the movies start at 6:30 so that doesn’t leave me much time to eat then get to the movie theater. I wouldn’t mind eating after the movie but the movies end at 8:30 and most restaurants close at 9:00. They’ve been doing this since the state of emergency was lifted a couple of years ago.
Beauty’s won’t be too far from you. I often walk there for breakfast from Sherbrooke and Peel. It’s around a 20 minute walk, if I remember right. They serve a St Viateur bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon. 93 Mont Royal West, close to Parc.

One photo of Beauty’s menu online showed the bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon is $17, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it costs closer to $19, with rising food costs everywhere lately.
There’s also a Universel diner on Peel just south of Sherbrooke which has omelettes and bennies. They have smoked salmon on a bagel for $19 (going rate- I’d expect it to be around $15-$17 plus tax at a place without table service)

Ooooo that looks like it right up my alley! Tx!
Hinnawi Bros is a more fast casual / take-out option. There’s a location at 2002 Ave McKay, and they have a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese for $10.99. I haven’t tried their bagels. I don’t think they were around last time I was in Montreal.
Hmmm I may have to investigate this…

Yesterdays lunch.
Raise you one…yesterday’s lunch.
Mortadella, burrata, castelvetrano olive tapenade- ish with pistachios , made this one with sliced semolina. @Saregama had something similar in HK on focaccia.
You fancy!
I think I prefer the ricotta version in a sandwich, I might have posted this one already with pistachio pesto.
The burrata in a sandwich is very filling! This is also burrata. The pic with ricotta is way back when in lunch somewhere. DH prefers provolone
I think maybe the focaccia sops up the cream differently.
But that was definitely very rich - they cut it into small cubes and stuck toothpicks in for sharing.
Yeah, I don’t think I’d put burrata on a sammich. Too messy. I don’t care much for ricotta. Too bland for me.
But a shmear of stracciatella? Per favore
That’s a perfect way to have it, in small portions! But I managed to eat the sandwich without too much difficulty!
If you put a tapenade or pesto on the ricotta, it’s a wonderful thing! Try it🤣
TJ no longer carrying stracciatella , you are going to have to cut open a burrata ! They told me to make room for the autumn cheeseses.
Oh, that’s a bummer (even tho the last package turned bad so quickly it wasn’t even funny).
As long as they keep the burrata around I’m good. There’s a TJ’s on my boo’s drive home from work, so he just picked one up yesterday
I buy really delicious burrata from an artisan cheese maker at FM. I Bet he would just bring stracciatella if I asked pretty please.
I have no doubt in my mind that he would
Light lunch after trotting around the nabe with my boo: poppyseed bagel with capers & chive cream cheese, a shmear of horseradish, smoked steelhead trout
And a preview of good things to come …
