The owner of our favorite taco place is on vacay as we found out today, which might explain the less than stellar experience we had recently for dinner. No complaints about lunch today: a flight of 2 Cajun shrimp tacos & one brisket tinga. A Mexicoke was shared as well
The red blobs you see on the tacos are the owner’s homemade berry hot sauce. It is hot. Like, REALLY hot.

Chicken Mendi at Halal King, a Yemeni joint in Richmond, CA. Delicately seasoned roast chicken half over rice, with a small salad and toum. It’s inside a cheapo gas station/convenience store, and there’s a Bitcoin ATM for your convenience and a table outside overlooking the gas pumps. Very, very good.
We got tacos and pinto beans at the Blind Burro in San Diego for lunch today. Al pastor for him and grilled mahi mahi for me. Hit the spot!
OK now … from the freezer stash for cataract surgery (I’m done!! Second eye last Tues) - Screamin’ Sicilian Stromboli. Bought it because it would pack a bunch of calories in a small space, not because I’m a particular fan of stromboli. As a matter of fact, I can’t even remember the last time I’d had one. I baked this one according to directions. Verdict: completely acceptable for a prefab product. I’d have liked a bit more spiciness, but . Acceptable convalescence food.

Fried up another KOS (yadda yadda yadda, you’ve LITERALLY seen it a million times ) for a late-ish lunch, but I needed a little more than that, so I had a taste of the chicken salad I made yesterday afternoon for my PIC’s future lunches.
Giant’s tender and juicy roti chicken breast chopped up, a healthy squeeze of “spicy” (not) brown mustard, sour cream, s&p, mayo, and celery for kronch. It came out surprisingly well, especially given the ratty mood I was in while making it.
