Gorgeous! You make Indian food look so appetizing, which is hard to do - what with all the brown, green & beige colors. Truly beautiful
This is something I started making last week and have made for several lunches since then. There’s a place near-ish us that sells these really nice little dashi tea bags that are just dried tuna, kelp, and dried mushrooms, and they make a 5-minute dashi that I enjoy. So I just
- Simmer the tea big with some frozen edamame and peas and drain, reserving the dashi
- Slice open the teabag and fry with some scallions, random leaves and herbs, sesame oil, soy sauce, mirin, and the oil from a can of tuna
- Meanwhile mix some Greek yogurt and the tuna into the dashi (weird, but works for me) for a little fatty tang
- Mix it all up with soba.
It would take like 15 minutes if I was willing to use more than one pot!
A small bowl of TJ’s roasted red pepper and tomato soup augmented with a frozen blob of basil, plus a small slice of Aldi’s pane Turano with a lil shmear, a sliced radish, a slice of Wegmans old-fashioned ham, and a slice of havarti.
Perfect sustenance for a pickle ball match
It’s taco Friday. Like almost every taco Friday, my PIC and I shared a flight, usually with two shrimp tacos plus one other. I felt meaty today, so we just got one Cajun shrimp, one brisket, and one roasted pork taco. The pork was lardilicious
Bacon-wrapped hotdog with cheese, kraut, mustard, pickled jalapeño at my local farm. Bacon and hotdog made in-house from their pasture-raised pork. Messy and delicious!
Messy is best!! Looks delicious
Late lunch after running errands: the fat half of the zuke I used for our scramble this morning cut into fairly thick slices, seasoned with Penzey’s Greek seasoning, and fried up in olive oil to caramelize. Squeeze o’lemon over the top, a little Greek feta & Aleppo pepper sprinkled over the top.
Felt virtuous AND (yet?) was delicious
I did this for Science … and so you won’t have to.
Wegmans frozen thin-crust pizza. $4.79 … so we are in the lower part of fast food pricing. This is not a costly experiment.
No, it doesn’t come with parchment.
Verdict: edible; the toppings are ok; I’ve had worse. But the “thin crust” is like a big, round matzoh. It even has perforations. My opinion of Matzoh pizza is: go for it if you have to because you’re observant and it’s Passover. Otherwise, nuh uh.
And now I’m drinking gallons of water because the salt has kicked in. But … $4.79. That’s only a little more than a Filet-o-Fish. Oh, wait. Dang.
One of very few leftovers I actually look forward to: a small bowl of last night’s shroom noodz (there’s another small bowl left for tomorrow’s lunch ), and the last of the salad.
Moar morels, fewer this time because the price went up. Despite my distinguished colleague’s misgivings, I sauteed them in butter, and they were great.
Oh, how I’m craving In ‘n’ Out! There are multiple locations here in Sin City, but my sister isn’t a fan and though there’s one about 3 miles one way (not far for me who likes to walk), I’ve either been busy cleaning for my sister or had other things to eat at my sister’s home. I. MUST. GO. SOON‼️ (I haven’t had any since 2007!)
I really feel like 3 patties is the perfect ratio of beef for an In N Out burger.
No cheese for me, tho, please.
Just means more for you.
And not hearing her kvetch about how there are other burgers she likes better!
There are other burgers I like better too, but I’m not going to stop someone from eating at In N Out, and I wouldn’t turn down a 3x3 burger with grilled onions.
There’s one near the Linq if you don’t mind going to the Strip! One nice thing about Vegas is you can find most of the country’s fast food chains there if you are so inclined. Shake Shack, In-n-out, Raising Cane’s, Chick-fil-a, White Castle, Jollibee, etc. etc.
