A gloomy day with fog hanging low over the skyline made so much brighter by lunch with a friend from back home, who was in town for the day to help her daughter move in
We met at RTM, where she and her daughther picked up a reasonably decent chicken biryani with a lil kick (according to my friend, I didn’t try any) and a turkey plate from The Original Turkey, a place that came highly recommended on the Philly eats subreddit. I ordered the cheese original with mayo and 'murrcan cheese bc I didn’t feel like a yuge lunch, as we’re going out for another celebratory dinner tonight
It was a nice sandwich with very juicy, fresh cut, still hot roasted turkey, but — as with most US sammiches, a lil too heavy on the meat for my taste. It’s a cultural thing, I know
I also prefer my bread to be toasted. Raw white bread is just not very appealing to me.
Half of the sammich came home with me after we perused the kitchen section at TJ Maxx where I found a good & cheap pepper grinder. A very fun, successful lunch meetup, I’ll say.
