Interesting combo.
I usually put them in congee or with tofu.

I thought it worked pretty well! Also, I had neither tofu nor congee. But I did have this big-ass cucumber.
Yes, indeed you did.
They should have used an ostrich egg to make your thousand year old egg …
Well, there’s an idea. I bought the eggs. I asked around about how to make them, and it seemed like a task above my pay grade. I made salted eggs once, though.
And unrelated - I just now realized your avatar is eating a cookie and not, in fact, holding its mouth and about to puke (which is what it looks like to me, because I am not very observant).
Perhaps it’s both, like one of those double images.
Like, is this a really good cookie? Or a really bad cookie?
Old time ‘chip steak’ sandwich. Fried chip steak slices (it used to be the round Ranch Hand brand steaks, but now it is the Steak-Umm brand) on sliced sour dough with sliced Swiss, mayo, Dijon mustard, romaine and a few dill pickle slices. Mother would pack this for me to have for dinner on the bus when I was traveling to a ski trip weekend. Pineapple and a slice of watermelon on the side. Memories.
I think we had something similar called Jiffy Beef Steaks. We were allowed to have them for dinner while watching tv when my father wasn’t home!
Steak?
I wish.
I fell for the hype of a recent article/recipe for homemade hamburger helper. Actually, my teenaged daughter made it since I stepped away for a long nap before cooking it, which meant my evil plan worked like a charm. Not pictured is the topping of roasted and chopped hatch chiles.
HH soup?
Pretty much. I’m sure it was not my Daughter’s intent, but it was the outcome. It also lent credence to my jokey pitch to her why I was making this. ("Do you like mac and cheese? Do you like Bolognese?) My guess is she was a little generous with the beef broth. In any case, it didn’t prevent us from devouring the entire pot throughout the day.
Corn Sticks! Gotta dust off my molds!!
