Lemon Pepper gets the limelight

Interesting ideas. We enjoy lox.

I read a simple recipe of roasted radish as wow with lemon pepper from Trader Joe as seasoning. I looked at the ingredients on Amazon and will make it myself.

So if I’m right, the ingredient are black peppercorns, sea salt, onion, lemon rind, garlic, lemon oil, citric acid. I guess citric acid will be replaced by a splash of lemon juice? For the lemon rind, does it include also white part or only the dried zest?

That sounds delicious. The lemon pepper I finally made myself contains:
Coarse ground black pepper, kosher salt, lemon powder and I add fresh lemon zest when I use the powder mix. I don’t add anything else because it overpowers the mix.

What is it?

I take a cup full of these and pulverize them into powder.

@Rooster, does your lemon pepper mix get caked up, or is it too soon to tell? Avoid Penzey’s for that reason, so usually stick with grocery store stuff. It will cake too, but seems to take longer. I’ll put it in the spice grinder at that point, so it’s usable.

Indeed good with acidity as well. Thanks!

The grit of the kosher salt and coarse ground black pepper keeps the lemon powder shakable. Not cakey. Even the Costco brand I had tried didnt get cakey.
