La Marzocco GS3 MP | Espresso Machine

Try working in a kitchen for a living…

Here’s a lovely little ensemble. And if this doesn’t quite scratch the itch then one can go solid silver from Duparquet and skip copper altogether. Aspirational for some, barely moves the needle for others. But it is good cookware. Just like the espresso machine, and the bread ovens, etc., etc.

Some love and buy premium even if it doesn’t.

Gorgeous stuff that I am sure cooks extremely well. I have spent half a century collecting cookware, and I have rarely regretted buying a copper pot or pan. I have worked in kitchens for a living. I ran on ice water and adrenaline during service but sometimes (usually) it got nuts enough that refilling my water was unthinkable. As things wound down it was time to restart the cycle of wine or beer at night and coffee in the morning, up until leaving for work and usually more coffee or espresso while zoning out on prep work. Restaurant cooks are an abused lot but still love it once they have gained some confidence.

For me it was usually water and chocolate-covered espresso beans.
Some nights the requests for beans from others in the restaurant made me feel like a dealer…

The beans are brilliant.
