I am so glad that you enjoyed Il Nido. It is turning into one of our favorite Italian restaurants. I made reservations for next Sunday. It is worth the 2 hour round trip for us.
I pray that you are able to beat cancer and regain your health and enjoy many more great meals with your friends.
We had another spectacular dinner at Il Nido. We enjoyed a creamy squash soup with pumpkin seed pesto and duck confit; their awesome salumi board; Taccozzelle pasta with veal poularde ragu, 2 Rivers mushrooms, Burgundy truffle, saffron and pecorino; melt in your mouth rack of lamb and filet mignon. It all went great with an excellent Gigondas and 2005 Syrah. There were plenty of leftovers. I’m looking forward to Mrs. P repurposing the salumi leftovers into a pasta dish.
Here are our current top 3 in the state. Anjelica’s, Toscano, and the fabulous I’ll Nido. Wonderful fromage i salumi taccozzelle pasta and a beauty of a lamb shank. Spent some time with the gracious owner and the talented chef and was sent home with complimentary cannolis. A triumph of a Saturday night.
WOW! That looks so good! I also heard the owner has gone above and beyond with installing high tech hepa filters and special ventilation systems to protect his staff and his customers
That looks fantastic! I’m proud to have been a contributor to 2 out of your top 3 favorites!! (I’m also a big fan of Angelica’s but I wasn’t one of the first posters of theirs)
That looks awesome. I love their charcuterie platter. We usually have leftovers and make kitchen sink pasta with them.
We have reservations for next Sunday and can’t wait.
We had another excellent dinner at Il Nido under harrowing and stressful circumstances. When I left my house, almost 50 miles away, I received a low tire warning in my front row passenger side tire.I have seen this warning before and didn’t pay it much mind. I figured I would take care of it tomorrow. I don’t have a spare tire but have run flat tires. As we were driving closer to South Jersey you could really hear the right side grinding away. We stopped to fill the tire up with air but when I reset the tire reading it showed zero pressure in the front right tire, which seemed unusual. We didn’t notice anything at the time. We were already late for dinner so we just drove to the restaurant. When we got out of the car we saw that the tire was shredded we tried to enjoy the dinner while worrying how I would get home. I just drove under 50 miles an hour the whole ride home and luckily made it home. I’ll worry about getting a new tire tomorrow.
Anyway, we enjoyed Rohan duck breast, crab stuffed cod, excellent baked oysters with crab meat, spinach, and hollandaise sauce, chittara pasta with a lamb ragu, and the always excellent charcuterie board. It all went great with a couple of excellent cabernets.
For the record based on the “Portions” thread I would like to point out that the charcuterie platter pictured above is for multiple people to share, that is not an individual order!
Yes, and we took half of it home to repurpose as a pasta dish later in the week I also wanted to note regarding the ‘portions’ thread, that I also photograph my plates up close to show more details of the food like @gcaggiano (causing the portions to look larger than they are). Also, some (not all) of the restaurants in the US do give larger portions to make their customers happy and give them their money’s worth (especially if you are spending $40 to $50+ for an entrée). We always order more food to get a taste of everything but also have leftovers for another meal at home. Mrs. P always takes a few bites of everything and then takes it home. I take more than a few bites but will leave some over of dishes that contain huge portions.
