Ideas for (fresh) figs

Grilling weather is year-round, even in harsher climates. They are heavenly grilled. I also incorporate them into baklava. Figs, honey and nuts are chums.

How about this?

Latest batch of preserved figs at 24 hours.

I made this salad using fresh figs and now I’m making a dbl batch. My Aunt’s fig tree produced hundreds, but late to ripen so now my family is in fig freezing mode.

Clipped from the California fig website.

With pancakes, either with the batter like lemon ricotta and figs, or over it, figs, pistachios, butter and a little simple syrup.

That sounds so incredible, either way.

I baked sliced tiger figs from Costco with blackberries and topped with a sheet of puff pastry. Made an incredible jammy fruit compote under a crisp shell and with vanilla ice cream gobbled up so fast by company I didn’t photo it. Super.

A def redo while figs are in.

What do you cook or do with green figs besides jam? My mom has a giant green fig tree that has taken over a lot of the yard…started from composing a Fig Newton.

I like the whole preserved figs from an Edna Lewis recipe.

Someone here mentioned how nicely figs can “dry” in the refrigerator and wanted to share this.

Thinking about trying it with some of these barely ripe ones.

Just gifted a bunch of figs from a neighbor, 1st up (other than eating one on my way home) was a flatbread smeared with gorgonzola dolce scattered with fig quarters and baked on a stone for about 10 minutes, then topped with fresh arugula and a drizzle of EVOO. Yum!
