My wife teaches at UCSC and there used to be a turkey named Hank who would torment cars. He’d also herd students.
The wild turkeys that hang out on a block near me just like to eat.
That was me, too!
I went back to Dumpling House today (and got charged twice because I thought the online order hadn’t gone through ) , and stopped by Ginger Elizabeth . They don’t have viennoserie any more! I was told they have returned to their original focus on chocolate.
I had to look that up, so I wanted to use it. That includes Kouign Amann, right?
Yikes! AI says…
I cooked chicken thighs from the dreaded Sacramento Co-Op.
For some reason they cost less per pound by the piece at the “butcher” case than packaged from Mary’s. Husband does not like dark meat (chicken!), so I never cook it at home. First time using the Airbnb oven. Cooked in non-stick at 475 and then learned the vent doesn’t seem to work.
I nearly backed into a turkey at the doctor’s office today. Talk about on topic…
Binchoyaki is not far from the fortune cookie place. And inbetween is the Southside Super which I heard was very good (and in this thread or another) and the katsu.egg sando popup, MechaMucho which has continued its residence at Osaka-ya.
For viennoiserie, there is always Estelle’s near the Golden 1 Centre as well, but I’d take Moonbellly over them (or Faria). But at least they are open more than three or four days a week (the new trend with all these new bakeries and small shops.
Another sweet treat, after a nice meal, is the ice cream sandwiches at Magpie.
Yes, this was noted by the press at the beginning of the year.
It’s really the result of her ambitious over expansion.
Try Faria in Oak Park
If Roxie still has their meatloaf sandwich, try it with everything including jalapeños.
Next time @riley !
Today I went back to the rose garden…
…and to Juno’s .A 40 minute wait, and cash only today. I found myself all the way at B of A getting some, which took exactly that.
I got a special; chicken, bacon and avocado
And one with eggplant, arugula, basil, Manchego, and roasted peppers.
It didn’t taste like sourdough to me, but the bread and the sandwich were good.
Yikes, a 40 minute wait! That is crazy, Sorry to have mentioned it.
It was fine! I got all my steps in!
My mother lives in Sacramento, specifically East Sac, so occasionally I’m hanging out there too. I appreciate your posts and the photos. Thank you!
Wow! East Sac! Who knew? (Not me!)
Horse and buggies just went down P St! I’m guessing for Memorial day festivities.
I got this flyer about LocalRootsFoodTours
IIRC, there’s a horse-drawn wagon concession in Old Sac that trots down N Street and circles Capitol Park. There’s also a beer bike business. It’s the size of a school bus, but has a bunch of bicycle seats with pedals, and it tours a number of breweries. Looks like fun but I could never get enough friends together to book a trip on it.
Ahhh! I see. We have horses at our “Fiesta Days” celebration in Vacaville.
Cold brew and breakfast burrito at Mast
I’d love to check it out, but I’m not sure if I understand my options.
The website says reservations needed, and the next one is next Tuesday at 9:45! Is that true for 1 and/or at the bar as well?
Also it sounds like take out is only available at The Line near Sac State
If I ordered “too much” at the bar do you think I can I get a to go box?
Kru is a hard pass for me.
I’d think I’d give it a pass. It is not worth that type of hassle. Are you running out of places to try? Maybe Beast & Bounty? Mulvaney’s? Waterboy? They are all on the fine dining side.
I’ve done the beer bike in a work group. You can also book seats on the tour but better with a group you know.
