Grocery Outlet 2019 [Bay Area]

Oakland has (or had, last week) Lemon, Lime and Tangerine La Croix as well as the Grapefruit. I’ve had both Lemon and Lime before – and liked them – so I got the Tangerine. For some reason I don’t care for it. It does taste like tangerines… I don’t know. I’ll stick to Lemon or Lime next time. It is a good deal.

A shout-out for GO flowers. Not wanting to make a trip elsewhere before a dinner party, I picked up a bouquet of roses, usually not my first choice but decent looking and CHEAP, two weeks ago. $5.99/doz.
They are still in good shape and look like they may have another week in them. Impressed!

Yesterday at the PA store:

Bayshore Blvd. SF
I guess Wind Gap sold the winery last year so maybe they are dumping old inventory or something but I really dig their wines and these chards retail for $40 and up. They only had 2 cases or so.
They also had the Pepperidge Farm Maui cookies back in stock for $1.99

Local Hayward GO also has the Peet’s Iced Coffee cans for 99 cents–quite a bargain considering that they go for $4.59 at the Peet’s stores. Happy to see Rick Bayless’ Frontera frozen dinners there too.

Don’t forget that GO has name-brand sundries as well; I got a tube of Aim toothpaste for 99 cents.

Are those good?

Not too bad, actually. The one I ate had a good sourness from the tomatillo salsa.

$3.99 Mazzoni Piemonte Barbera 2012
Red wine from Piemonte

from Vivino:

A partnership of two wine families, Franceschi from Italy and Terlato from USA, this rusty red Piemonte wine shows warm dark fruit and spice aromas. Very tart and acidic upon opening (pretty bad, actually), but it fares much better with a decant. Notes of cranberry, raspberry, and pomegranate with mild tannins and somewhat tamed acidity. A light 13% ABV Barbera that’s meant to accompany and not overpower food. Again, just be sure to decant.

Late to post, but here are some finds from last Friday at the PA store.

Never heard of the brand. I got the single origin Vietnam and Ecuador. They were nice for the price.

Lots of Bob’s Red Mill stuff again:

Thought Huehuetenango is a highland town. Coffee beans grown there?

There were some Columbus charcuterie packs but they were close to expiration.

Lots of Bob’s Red Mill products in downtown Hayward yesterday, as is nice-looking grapeseed oil from Napa at $7.99. Grass-fed ground lamb is back at $6.49/lb. Also, if this is your thing, pumpkin spice Jell-O is available.

I’m in Seattle, don’t know if you get the same stuff, but this broccoli pizza was good. Pretty thin crust with enough broccoli that I could pretend I ate a vegetable, but enough cheese that it still felt like pizza. Would buy again. I forget the price, 4 or 5 bucks?

Huge avocados for a dollar each. But I’d only recommend it if you’re in a pinch and eating it by the next day. Way too ripe and kind of stringy. Also, I saw some variety of Hagen Dazs for a good price.

The Haagen Daaz. In pa store.

That Upton jackfruit curry was not that good. I was hoping it’s be similar to the one I tried at one of David Thompson’s restaurants. But it’s not even close. Avoid.
