supposedly pull a vacuum in Mason jars without using a hot-water bath

Someone recently posted something similar and I wondered if they took that to mean it served the same purpose.

My last traditional vacuum sealer died (the hand held was replaced once by the manufacturer), …and I got a new one from Food Saver because you can bag liquids. [PXL_20250131_035353203]
