Well hey, it’s a stocking. It’s perfect for the whole leg. I’m sure I can find friends to polish a while leg off (and I have splurged on it before…).
Ethnic or regional food gifts, especially if they enjoy any specific cuisines are always fun. Sometimes even discussion specific food/cooking implements or tools are nice. I had a friend who loves ramen, and started experimenting with making it at home. While he had chopsticks, as a little gift I gave him two of those little Japanese spoons that are like mini ladles. He loved them.
I just used two other stocking stuffer utensils I received in the past. A silicon basting brush, which is so much easier to clean than my usual “paint brush” style tools. Liquid “shot glass” measures–a large one that holds up to 8 tablespoons and a small one that holds 2 tablespoons. They are so much easier to use than measuring spoons.
They look like these but one is bigger (8 tbsp) and one smaller (2 tbsp). Mom got them for me, so I don’t know where she got them.
And none of these should be confused with my 1 and 2 cup pyrex measuring cups or my stainless steel measuring spoons. I guess I’m a big measurer (I do bake a lot).
I have 1 2.5-cup, 1 2-cup, and 4 1-cup liquid measuring cups, and 2 sets each of Tupperware dry measuring cups and measuring spoons. :::hiding my embarassment at my kitchen stuff:::
During the year I will pick up some stocking stuffers (that will fit in a stocking) that could be gifted to anyone interested in food…
small utensils, scrapers, spatulas, ‘tweezers’, tiny whisks filled with glitterati candy
Vanilla beans (mentioned before)
Saffron packets
Nice, good quality chocolate bars or wafers that can be used in baking
‘Silpat’ type mats that come in a package, divided up and wrapped with a fancy, reusable string
Tiny spices or blends from KA or Penzey’s or even local creations, local honey, powders, flavorings, rubs etc. in small jars
‘Airplane’ (sample sized) liquor or liqueur bottles for flavorings or flaming or medicinal use
Grocery or specialty store gift cards, which never expire here
See’s Candy Lollipops
Always a nice carefully wrapped piece of fruit (Satsumas if they are early) and a special cookie again, carefully wrapped. I used to buy amarettis but they are so hard to find now.
I haven’t, but I have a small “shot glass” with a lip for pouring that came from a pharmaceutical site, I believe. Makes for an easy pour while making my libations.
