Better.
I was going to say the same thing, only I was going to say love. I couldnât possibly pick a favorite, but some of the potatoes dauphinoise we had in Paris were ethereal. I havenât attempted to make them myself
The only time I met a potato I didnât like was in Paris. We went to a restaurant near the apartment we rented in the Latin Quarter. The potatoes were prepared with great flair, table-side. Beaten to death - we could not enjoy them. They had the consistency of wallpaper paste. I canât remember what theyâre called. I know other foodies swoon over them but neither of us were impressed.
Probably, Aligot. The texture is like wallpaper paste. I like them, but theyâre a different animal than mashed potatoes.
The bowl of gluey potatoes is so unfortunate. It is sad that it has arrived in France. It takes a ton of butter or gravy to make them palatable.
I wanted potatoes Dauphinoise, but I had neither Gruyere nor cream. I used par boiled Yukon golds in 1/4" slices, crema, smoked Gouda, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Wow.
Yes - those are them!
The potatoes I donât like are 80 percent of the processed home fries served at diners in Toronto. So many places take shortcuts and canât get their home fries right.
I also donât like around 80 % of the fries that come with sandwiches. I usually just get a burger without fries because I can take âem or leave âem.
Iâm with you on both of those counts. Iâm picky about fried potatoes but I like them when theyâre good (the ones that start as a whole potato in the kitchen, not from a bag in the freezer).
These microwave chips. Love them tho they are a bit fussy. Worth the effort for 2 people, no more. Iâve come to really dislike all packaged chips - I just smell/taste rancid oil. No matter what brand or oils.

I have not tried this yet. Molly Yeh roasted potatoes with paprika mayo. https://www.instagram.com/p/CrLT5rQvSwJ/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
I have an extra bottle of Prozac lying around here somewhere in case anyone needs some âŠ

I need to amend my statement. All the talk of wallpaper paste reminded me of a friend who manages to make mashed potatoes look and taste like it

Thatâs what Don Lemon is thinking about right now.
Word all over the interwebs is that he and Tucker Carlson are going to star in the ultimate remake of âThe Odd Coupleâ:
â»âOn April 24th, Don Lemon was asked to remove himself from his place of work; that request came from his employer of 17 years. Deep down, he knew they were right, but he also knew that some day he would return that job. With nowhere else to go, he appeared at the home of archenemy, Tucker Carlson.â
(â»Paraphrased from MANY such posts on social media and I in no way claim to have the creative genius to write such things.)
âCan these two live together without driving each other crazyâ
I will readily concede that Lemon and Matthau owned the rolls, but I grew up having seen the TV version first, so Iâll always have soft spot for Klugman and Randall. And really, if you ARENâT getting Lemon and Matthau, those two were just about as good of replacements as you could possible ask for.
One Thanksgiving many years ago we went to our friendsâ house instead of hosting as was our custom. Everything was prepped and cooked in the morning - the kitchen was spotless when we got there. No steamed up windows, hardly any aromas in the place. Everything was kept on warming trays or in the oven. The turkey was already sliced. The mashed potatoes were pureed in a food processor and had that wallpaper paste consistency. It was the most tasteless, colorless Thanksgiving meal Iâve ever experienced - even the gravy was light beige.
Sounds like they achieved the aesthetic they were going for!
