Favorite frozen pizza (brands, specific versions, etc.)

Uff, the meat lover’s. Puddles of grease. I so like a fennelly sausage on there, sparingly, and muchos veggies. I just love onon, peppers, fungus and I’ll go green and black olives, if given my druthers.

I think the biggest issue I have with any frozen pizza is the crust…always suks. So, Aldi has little pizza dough balls for $1.20 and a fair pizza sauce for $1.20, and I get 2 14"ers out of that. That crust turns out.

Think I’ll try that one next. thanks!

I’ve never had a frozen meat lovers (at least, I don’t think I have), but I really enjoy them at pizza shops, and even Aldi’s taken-n-bake refrigerated meat lovers is pretty good (it’s on what they call “thin” crust, vs their regular crust which to me is too cardboardish). Their pepperoni, I think, is the only other one on the thin crust.

It’s waaay too hard to hit 3,000 kCal eating the fungus+spinach pies.

@TheLibrarian28 Just so I fully understand… my personal preference for not liking a metric ton of industrial meat on a(n entirely hypothetical) frozen pizza is akin to “yucking someone else’s yum” now?

Is that what prompted you to start your thread? I could certainly understand your beef  if I had specifically yucked any specific user’s specific post here, but are you honestly expecting people to not have any opinions about food?

This being a discussion board and all? It’s even more baffling to me since I started this thread to get recommendations, but… I can’t have opinions about pizza?

This may come up earlier; Serious Eats sent out a frozen pizza review recently. I was surprised at the Kirkland/Costco rating.

Me, too. I found the Kirkland pepperoni version terrible. I guess Kenjii’s s gonna force me to try the cheese…

I’m a fan of pan style pizza and we recently discovered Motor City Pizza at our local Lowe’s Grocery. Detroit style pizza with a crust I can only describe as crispy on the bottom and kind of airy on the inside. Not bready at all. Its rep!aced Screamin’ Sicilian in our freezer.

I agree - I’ve tried one, and I like it better than Screaming Sicilian. It’s just too big for me to finish. :joy:

I’m happy to save all your wonderful recs (and disses!) for my future self, as I currently have
no need for the frozen stuff while in Philly, where fantastic pizza abounds

I bought a two pack of these at Costco recently - they aren’t bad at all, although seriously lacking in cheese. I doctored up the second one with some extra mozz and parm, plus pickled banana peppers for a little zestiness, and was quite happy with the result.

We always add extra cheese to frozen pizza. Often mushrooms as well.

I missed that one.

What’s their verdict?

Pizzeria Uno.
But they really didn’t like any of them.
Also, like America’s Test Kitchen, these aren’t actually all the frozen pizzas in the USA.
Oh well.

And it is near impossible to squeeze it in to 1400 cal day. So, basically useless.

First time to try Stefano pepperoni pizza, a brand launched by Stefano Faita in Montreal.
The edge became cracker like after 12 minutes at 425. The sauce and pepperoni were better than most Canadian frozen pizzas.

Speaking of Canadian frozen pizza. I actually found a good one in the U.S. Whole foods is selling Porta Pizza. The sausage and caramelised onion is especially good but all the varieties are pretty good. They are different from what you would expect/want from a fresh pie but they are quite good. The crust, while not especially thick is more like a good bread. Not the same as fresh but good without needing the disclaimer of “for a frozen pizza”. Definitely worth adding to your freezer for a quick and easy meal.
