Anjelica’s has competition for the best BYOB Italian in Monmouth County. Very fancy room, very fancy menu. Here is a bad picture of the best lamb chops I’ve ever had.
There is fighting words! Have you ever had the lamb chops at Aarzu? Those are the best I’VE ever had!
Now I have to go!
We enjoyed a sensational dinner at Falcone. It was well worth the 2 hour round trip drive. What a beautiful setting in an old church! Thanks for the recommendation @coldbeer70 !
Besides the excellent lamb chops, we enjoyed a whole branzino, excellent calamari oreganata with a nice sweet and spicy sauce, that had a nice kick to it; clams oreganata; agnolotti with sweet corn and ricotta filling, grand marnier, grana padano and sage. We took home some cannoli for dessert. It all went great with an excellent cabernet and Malbec.
Excellent! Glad you enjoyed it. Will be back there in a couple of weeks and looking forward to it.
I had no idea this was a former church because I remember it as a Chinese/Thai restaurant (Eastern Empire) where I didn’t see any hint of the church. Here’s a link to a picture of the former location.: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/623-Newman-Springs-Rd-Lincroft-NJ/4198411/
They've done some major remodeling! They did a magnificent job remodeling.
Thanks again for the recommendation! It’s well worth the 2 hour round trip. It checked all of the boxes (beautiful dining room and ambience; friendly and attentive non rushed service; excellent food).
We can’t wait to go back. I just have to find a way to fit it into my tight restaurant rotation. I will probably have to drop one restaurant from our monthly rotation.
We loved Eastern Empire! I recently saw it on my Contacts list. It made me wistful for their pad Thai.
I guess I’m getting old. I remember when it was King Wok. I would get wonton soup and a pint of plain lo mein for lunch and it was 5 bucks. There is also Emperor Wok on Shrewbury Ave and I used to wonder(because I’m weird) if an Emperor was above a king…
