$10 veg breakfast sandwich
We had a recent concert at Lula Lounge. Although there are some good places fairly close by, we decided to reserve for dinner there as doing so helped to ensure great seats for the concert. We were frankly not expecting much of anything and were pleasantly surprised that our meal was pretty good. Not good enough to go there for just for dinner, but good enough that if you are also seeing a concert there then you can also include dinner.
Cocktails were good, not great:
- Tamarind Margarita: tequila, lime juice, agave, tamarind - nice and somewhat vegetal.
- Piña Colada: coconut cream, pineapple juice, coconut-infused white rum, dark rum - a little too sweet.
- Spicy Pineapple Margarita: jalapeño-infused tequila, pineapple juice, pineapple cinnamon syrup, lime juice, Triple Sec, Tajin rim - very fun, with good sweet-salty balance.
- Passion Fruit Pisco Sour: lime juice, simple syrup, passionfruit juice, pisco - nice and tangy.
For food, we started with roasted and nicely charred Brussel sprouts, with a decent miso aioli, bonito flakes, and togarashi.
Pollo al Horno featured Peruvian-style slow-roasted chicken leg, which was moist and flavourful. It was served with chimichurri and aji verde sauce, along with nondescript fried rice.
Pastel Vegano was a baked potato pie, stuffed with legumes, spinach, and mushrooms in a San Marzano tomato sugo. Not exciting, but quite enjoyable.
The pastor tacos were good, with slightly dry but tasty pork, chopped onion, and chopped pineapple, with lime and salsa.
For dessert we split the tres leches cake which was ok, but nothing special.
