Dublin (& a couple of other places) Recommendations?

Thanks for the heads up! GretchenS…where are you?

Check out her breakfast post.

I was in Dublin for four months in 2019 so these recommendations might be a bit dated. I would skip Boxy - more of a tourist destination - than good food. Two small places that I had very good meals at were Etto (near St. Stephens Green) and Camden Kitchen. A bit more high end was Mr. Fox - had several excellent meals there. Another possibility might be Forrest Avenue. I never ate there, but had the best meals I had in Dublin at their sister restaurant which has closed. Finally, if you do not have good Indian food in your home town I thought Pickle Indian restaurant was excellent. Happy eating.

I second Pickle! We go to Ireland every couple of years because my husband is from Roscommon (not a touristed part of Ireland). We don’t linger in Dublin much so there’s not a lot I can add. As a general rule, though, the things I crave that are specific to Ireland are: Irish breakfast (the sausages cannot be imported to the US and I am very sad about that), seafood chowder, fish pie, and brown bread. My husband loves spice burgers, curry chips, chicken goujons (nuggets) and all the greasy fried things that can be found at any chipper but I think those are things you have to grow up with to really enjoy.

Thank you both… much appreciated.
As it turns out, tennis has taken its toll on both my left knee and hip so, GretchenS, “I feel your pain”. I spent a month (May/June) hobbling around Paris & taking more Ubers than I’ve ever done before (not complaining - it was Paris!), then came home to get a hip cortisone injection, PRP in my left knee (gel shots coming up in mid-Aug), Physical Therapy &, oh yeah, a diet. My plan is to be 20-25 years younger (I mean lighter) when we go to Ireland in October. Need a good Orthopedist in NYC?
