Dublin Trip July 2024-Part 1

Our trip to Dublin was great, till it wasn’t. Which was about 6 days in and the C-19 we probably picked up on the plane kicked in. (Note-Wear a mask on all public transit and avoid traveling in July if possible). We had never tested positive before, so it was rather alarming. We have been home about a week and are recovering nicely.

We stayed on Lower Leeson Street, in the embassy area and within walking distance of St. Stephen’s park. We had several bus routes right out the front door, and it was convenient to walk to several neighborhoods. We had a suite with sitting area & kitchen and separate bedroom, which we appreciated a lot this trip.
Our first night we had a table at The Little Kitchen, a small place, a prixe fix menu till 6:30 and a very nice wine selection. I had the mussels in a tomato curry broth with grilled bread. The mussels were smaller but some of the best cooked I’ve had. And a good size portion. And a pan grilled chicken that was delicious (took most of it home).
DH had the vegetable soup which I did not try but he enjoyed and the sea bass special.

No dessert that night, about 3 glasses of wine, 90 euros before service.
We did go again later in the week, we liked it that much. Service was great, a nice atmosphere. Def recommend. They offer lunch Thurs-Saturday, or Sunday.

Wednesday we were still getting settled, walked down to St. Stephen’s and found Emir’s Kitchen on the way. Coffee/lunch spot, take away only. Very nice scones and a bacon butty. Irish slab bacon on white toasted peasant bread. Just what the doctor ordered! Also grabbed their sandwich specials a couple of times. Both were good.
Walked all over Dawson, O’Connell and Grafton Streets with the rest of the tourists.
We lunched at Pinchet, which apparently has or had a Michelin star. We did not know this, we were just hungry. A pretty old school French steak house vibe. Food and service were excellent. It is not a rushed place, we had wine, sparkling water. The waiter was engaging, the manager stopped by. They are known (?) for their roasted cauliflower, which to be honest, was really good, no too big but a nice starter. I had the slow roasted lamb and DH had the Hake special. Portions were very fair, food was on point, well seasoned, not over cooked which we were concerned about. My lamb dish had both a fresh mint and middle eastern style yogurt sauces. Both worked very well. Dessert was an apple tarte tatin for me and a cheese plate for him.

We did, and I am sorry to hear about your knee! I hope you recovered?

It is a very slow process but looks like I will not need to go under the knife, praise be.

ETA: I think it’s hilarious we posted our reports simultaneously.

It’s ages since we had an Ireland related post. And then we get on the same day.
