Day Road Trip to R.I. Thoughts?

We are planning a Saturday road trip to Rhode Island, but not necessarily to Providence. We’re sussing out the summer place possibilities. Along the way we’d be delighted with a scrumptious lobster roll (for my birthday), and some spectacular fresh seafood. Since it will be mid-October I know many places may be closed. Suggestions?

Here’s a bunch of recent RI threads

@SuzieCK I had too much going on to chime in. I hope you +1 figured out a plan for tomorrow’s RI road trip? We’re at opposite ends of New England (I’m in Maine with the 'rents and B and Spring Onion for the weekend). If you are still trying to figure out things, please let me know!

These days, Warren is where we usually end up eating when we’re at our vacay house in Barrington. We enjoy the lobster rolls at Blount Clam Shack in Warren. The on-the-water location is closed but the year-round market has the same menu. St. Martha’s was wonderful and Metacom Kitchen has re-opened after a hiatus. Just a few minutes south of Warren, Bristol has some fun places, too. You may like Dune Brothers for a casual lobster roll in an open-air waterside casual locale.

I think you implied that you are looking for a summer cottage, which implies seaside to me but maybe not? A day trip to Southern RI makes for a long day. If it’s not too late, I would urge you to find a place to rest your heads for 1 night.
