Me too!
I’m reading an ebook from my library (had to wait on hold for a while): Mark Twain by Ron Chernow. He couldn’t stand going to school so avoided it but read adventure books. He noticed how churches used the bible to justify slavery … from an early age he observed the cruelty and was outraged by it.
Nice to have kids that buy you baking books. Just received BUNS by Louise Hurst. Its not a huge book, 159 pages. Has 5 master recipes for dough and the rest is filled with different fillings. Dough and filling is made to be baked tomorrow.
Rosyred just seeing your response (I came back from Paris sick) - no kindle version that I can see in the US version.
Amazon has Erin Jeanne McDowell’s “The Book On Pie” for $10.39.
Just treated myself to a copy of Mokonuts. It should be here in a few days.
On my wish-list. Not so much a cookbook, as a canning book:
The Kindle price for Christopher Kimball’s Milk Street Bakes is $1.99 now.
Thank you! I just got this as an ebook from the library, and once I started looking through it I thought, I might need this.
Thank you for this. Given Caitlin’s comment, I went for it.
Jeez, I’d buy any cookbook for $1.99 – I think it’s just a reflex. If it’s heart shaped, I’ll pay double
.
His Venetian Cornmeal and Currant Cookies look intriguing.
Stef and pavlova have both reported good results with some recipes on the baking threads, and there are many intriguing-sounding recipes.
Yes I 'm pleased with the book. Ive baked the Brazilian carrot cake which is done in a blender and my son recently attended a potluck and also made it. It must be good if he remembered it
Here’s the NYT’s take on the best of the year (gift link):
Looked at that SO many times!
Yeah. It’s def on my short list.
Saving the Seasons is great. You should get it. I went to a book signing/demo a while back and learned a ton.
This is the kind of article that makes me miss The Piglet
There sure are a lot of Christmas food “best” lists online just now–you can’t escape them! But what I came here to say is Rose Levy B’s Cake Bible is on Kindle for $2.99 now.
I remember that! It was fun, but I also remember some strong opinions/discussions.
