Hi! I use this inherited pan daily. I love it and want to buy another. It has no markings. Any guesses on what brand it is?
Hi Terri. Welcome to the forum.
It may help narrow down the guesswork if you let us know where in the world you are and, therefore, what market it was possibly made for.
I’m afraid I’m no help on this - we usually just buy cheap pans from the supermarket.
Looks like a Calphalon, but can’t be certain. Can you scrub off the bottom muck and see if there’s a name? The inside is still spotless.
Thanks for the response! I scrubbed it as best i could. It’s better but i still have to work on it There are no markings anywhere. I’m located in Florida.
There are no markings anywhere. I’m located in Florida. I inherited it about 5 years ago, almost new from someone who lived in California and Florida.
I tried looking up sauté pans with concentric round dots on the bottom, but came up with only ones that also had a logo. There’s nothing noted on the piece of the handle attached to the pan?
It’s kind of hard to tell from the pix (from directly above and below), but it looks like a disk bottom rather than clad. The cooking surface looks to be in excellent condition, though, so for an inherited pan, it appears that somebody took good care of it.
Generally speaking, nonstick pans such as this, if unbranded, are inexpensive, generic, and designed to be discarded and replaced when “used up.” This is relatively new as the bottom looks like it is made to be induction compatible. The branded ones are no better but allow you to cook with prestige.
Use it gently and it will last. If you want another, you will find the current equivalent at any store that sells all sorts of discounted goods. I replaced my recently used up nonstick skillet at T J Maxx for the price of cheeseburger.
We’ve also bought pans very cheaply from Home Sense (which, in the UK, is the non-clothing arm of TK Maxx).
And T K Maxx actually is T J Maxx, name slightly changed in the UK for legal reasons.
No logo at all. This pan is better than any nonstick pan I’ve ever had. 5 years of daily use and the surface is still as good as when i got it. It’s quite heavy.
I can’t help but the pan looks like a high quality ceramic non stick pan with a disc bottom.
It’s very thick for a non stick pan.
People who argue that non stick pans are non stick pans, no matter the price and the material used in the pan don’t know better and they are in the wrong. Top quality non stick pans most definitely cook better and last longer than low quality non stick pans in my experience.
I have 48 different type pans and pots in my kitchen arsenal and 9 of these are ceramic non stick pans from Demeyere and Mauviel. I absolutely love my 9 non stick pans, even though I know it’s probably not the most healthy thing in the world to cook with them.
But I don’t believe searing and high heat sautéing is that healthy a cooking technique either and I never use my non stick pans for searing or high heat sautéing, so there you go.
Your pan looks like it has been heavily used by looking at the bottom but looks almost brand new by looking at the non stick coating. It’s really weird.
I’m also curious what brand this is.
Thank you for responding. I enjoyed reading your thoughts. I did more digging and found out the person i inherited it from had it for about 4 years before me, so its 9 years old. They were quite wealthy and everything they owned was top quality, so it wouldnt be surprising if this was an expensive pan. It just has held up so well.
If i ever find out the manufacturer i will be sure to let you know.
I tried Google image search with your photos, and I tried eBay image search. Nothing came up that was remotely close.
I’m from Denmark, Europe, so I don’t know some of the brand names which are sold in the US and not in Europe among them Cuisineart pans.
I found this photo of a Cuisinart pan that looks a little bit like your pan, only 80% resemblance though.
I wonder if the pan could be an older ceramic non stick pan from Cuisinart.
I also found a photo of this Procook pan, and I wonder if it could an older model of this pan:
I agree, the shape is similar to ProCook. The current bottom is different but maybe it changed?
