Dutch House tavern in Fair Lawn has a really good burger. The meat is supplied by a local butcher shop. Also a very cozy atmosphere.
If Eli can drive an hour for Drewâs, I can drive an hour for The Dutch!
No pic but I got a burger at the bar at the Old Village Pub in middletown the other day. Donât do it. I usually love checking out towny vibe places like that, but holy cow was their burger a disaster. Claims to be 1/2 lb, ordered Medium rare but it came out so burnt and overcooked the patty barely covered half of the kaiser roll, it was like the size of a whopper jr patty.
Sent it back and the resulting burger was at least not a shriveled puck, but still was fully cooked inside. Itâs a shame because their toppings were really good. Also within our party some of the fries/tots we ordered somehow came out cold. Sadness.
If you are in the area and want to try another Port Side on Rt 36 gets good reviews, but I havenât tried.
You are a braver man than me, eating at the OVP.
I got a recommendation for the burger at Pine Tavern in Matawan. Iâve passed it many times but never stopped in. Anyone know if you can actually have a burger at the bar here?
I really like checking out off the beaten path joints like that, there are some gems some times!
Pics of the food at port side look nice!! Thanks for the rec.
We dropped into the Pour House in TF for a late lunch and were surprised to find no one cooking behind the bar - my burger came out of the kitchen.
What donât I know?
Iâve had the burger at Pine Tavern and it was excellent. Cooked perfectly. Canât remember the fries.
I made it to Pine Tavern with a few people. It was a Saturday Night and were told it would be a 20 minute wait. When the wait exceeded an hour and no indication that a table was coming anytime soon, we bailed and went to Park Place diner a little up the road. However, during the wait they were looking at all the dishes being run to tables and thought it looked really good and insisted we go back another day at a less busy time. I made it back, but wasnât in the mood for a burger that day. Iâll get there soon, maybe after all this snow goes away.
To me, thatâs not a burger - it is everything they had in the kitchen on a roll. But thatâs just me.
That looks like bun, burger, cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion - what doesnât belong on a burger ?
Burgers donât belong on donuts.
That looks like a regular bun
That looks DELICIOUS! (And the fries, tooâŚ)
It was a good one. One Willow does a very nice job in general, and the burger is great.
even though I live far away from NJ, and havenât visited NJ since 1998, every time I see this thread I want to order a burger at a bar!
(Here in Canada. LOL)
Regular bun to be sure, just pointing out what else may not belong.
