Burger at The Bar

Up in North Jersey, James on Main, in Hackettstown, has the best hand cut fries, served with black garlic aioli. They are crispy on the outside, and creamy in the inside.

Thank you … for the tease.

That’s an hour and a half EACH WAY.

Anything in Monmouth County?

I haven’t tried them yet, but as I was leaving Anderson Market in Red Bank the other day (my first trip), I was pulled in a different direction by the smell of Masala fries at the fried chicken place! If I hadn’t already purchased an expensive Ahi poke bowl from Local 130, I would’ve grabbed some.

I enjoyed my one visit to the Grand Tavern. There are several problems from where I’m sitting: Parking; the burger is the now-usual kitchen sink on a bun; and the price is … well … obscene. (" * 8oz dry aged burger, bacon-onion jus, white cheddar, aioli, fries 28").

But, yes, the fries were excellent.

I have gotten a few recommendations for Rossi’s in Hamilton. Has anybody tried their burger?

Before Rossi’s moved from Trenton to Hamilton, I had their burger several times and it was cooked perfectly and very good. They also had made their own potato chips that rocked.

I haven’t been to the new location.

Tentative plans to go this weekend. I will report back.

Made it to Rossi’s yesterday. It is in a former Charlie Brown’s location and aside from a lot of pictures on the wall paying homage to their Trenton roots (apparently Joe DiMaggio was a regular), it didn’t have much of an old time feel. We took a table in the bar area and I ordered the classic burger without cheese. Agree with @BossaNova, it was cooked perfectly and when the bun started losing the battle holding it together, I happily continued with a fork and knife. I’m craving another one right now and will return.

Good spot, but the old Trenton location was classic. Usually live music when I’ve been as well.

Brothers Daley, formerly Rory’s, formerly Harry’s Lobster House in Sea bright NJ, serves up a very tasty burger.

They also do a smash burger, I’ll go to Shake Shack for that. Pickles, onion, but mealy fries. Need to double dip those guys. The room is gorgeous.

What? $28? No thanks.

That burger looks promising. The fries likewise.

However, no lunch service and no actual parking.

Thank you.

Another Friday, another Barrel and Roost burger. Not at the bar this time.

Good information.

We apparently have different schedules, needs, and abilities.

And that’s fine.
