Go where?
Google Mill Valley library; it’s incredible, tall windows looking out at redwoods.
Trees make me happy, feel at peace.
Best time for hikes in Redwood forests: September/October.

No drive-through trees in Muir Woods, though. They’re much further north.
I have lived in all of them except Manhattan. And Staten Island, but that doesn’t count.
Facts.
I’ve only lived in Manhattan. I didn’t leave NJ to live in not-Manhattan. Although I certainly see the value of the other boroughs as eating destinations.
…and back yards.
Have you met my balcony? It’s kind of like a back yard, only higher.
It was 45 years ago, so no wonder my memory isn’t true. I did drive further north into other redwoods, do possibly in Eureka.
I have never heard that re: rain.
My father filmed/directed a tourist film for NYC (that my older brother and I were in while playing on Jones Beach!) back in the late 60s/early 1970s as a freelance movie producer/director. We used to watch his films in our basement, and I still remember some background music that listed the boroughs: “Manhattan, the Bronx and Brooklyn; Queens and Richmond, da-da-dahh!”
I’m assuming Richmond is now Staten Island?
It is! What a cool story!
About Muir Woods in the rain; I don’t know, but I think the park might be less crowded in the winter, which is also when it rains, but I also read not much rain makes it through the canopy.
That March '22 picture was supposed to be a rainy day, but it was perfect!
Great as Muir Woods is, its small area (500 acres, total) saddens me–it’s much smaller than Central Park. I’m eternally grateful it’s been preserved, but we should understand what’s been irretrievably lost. It isn’t much different than a butterfly exhibit in a world almost devoid of them.
Muir Woods is only a part of Mt Tam, which is full of hiking trails surrounded by trees.
I know.
So is Sequoia National Park.
I always thought of it as Central California, but it is still a long way from Ontario.
We have the same grill (Primo XL?), but our table isn’t nearly as fancy.
Where is this? Gorgeous!
